Transfer students who decide to live in the residence halls - and who are age 20 and over - cannot live in the dorms. They are relegated to Castilian Hall in Cuarto.

Transfers 19 and under are most likely to be put in with the freshmen, but if there is no room it is possible that they may be forced to live in Castilian as well. It depends entirely on the average age of the transfer class and the freshmen. Whichever group you are closest to is where you get put.

I got this information by calling UC Davis housing. Any questions should be directed to them, as they were very helpful.

Primero Grove has massive waiting lists. They’ve already stopped taking applications for Fall 2010… Their prices are great though; about $200 cheaper than anything comparable.

hey everyone! I’m stoked to go to Transfer Day! I’ve been hearing great things about UCD
about the changing major question - I called admissions when I got my acceptance they said after your first quarter @ UCD, you shouldn’t have a problem changing it :)

I am brand, spanking new to this site and am excited to that I will be attending transfer day as well:) Now, who is/is trying to live on campus? Who is living in midtown/dowwntown Sacramento? Pros and cons of both would be appreciated!!!

I’m trying to get into one of the apartments (Arbors, Lexington, Primero Grove) hopefully sharing with 2 or 3 other apartment mates. That would be awesome :)

^ I was referring to Primero Grove… They aren’t accepting applications for Fall 2010 anymore. If you’re not going to live alone, finding a place in a nice private complex won’t be that hard.

I was just being a little bitter. Finding a cheap, nice, close to campus apartment in Davis (I’m looking for a studio so I can live alone) is more difficult than I want it to be. And that combined with my abysmal financial aid there is … made me trollish.

I will be like the same age of freshmen so I believe I can choose what dorm I want to live in. However, I’m having the hardest time to decide. Suites or traditional dorm?
Are the suites anti-social like people say ?
Is it better to live with transfer students (older than me - but i’m used to the age difference) or with freshmen who are my age (but they are fresh out of HS…) ?
Any advice is appreciated :)

I am also closer to freshman age (~19) and am having a hard time deciding.
Cuarto isn’t actually antisocial - it’s actually where a lot of the more social people are. There are always people at the pool to talk to, and suite mates tend to be quite sociable (as I’ve been told).
Castilian Hall is more like traditional single-tenant apartments, though. Considerably less social. And it houses older transfers and older freshmen.
