@memelover123 I am not an expert on this by any means but my impression is that UCD regents is very selective. I know they only take 200 incoming freshman into the honors program and regents are automatically accepted to honors program but others are accepted to honors without regents so I think regents is well under 200 students. My daughter had what I thought was an extremely competitive application and she wasn’t offered either. I was surprised.
Hi Gumbymom Can you PM the information to me
Waitlisted
Civil engineering
4.00 UC gpa
1340 SAT
In state
@ggbears i’ve heard that davis does reject people with very high stats, because davis might end up as a safety school for them anyways. the college has not confirmed this, though.
Accepted
Undeclared College of Letters and Science
4.21 GPA
1330 SAT
@phillko22 @ggbears I’m so sorry to hear that D:! This is the first time I’ve seen someone get outright rejected, and not waitlisted, from Davis with such high scores. But unfortunately, your scores are not the reason you were rejected I believe. Almost 90% of students from my HS, past and present, have been accepted with scores below and higher than yours. With that being said, a flat-out rejection does seem quite anomalous given your stats.
My stats are quite similar to yours if you want to compare:
ACCEPTED
Major: Marine and Coastal Science (I swear I picked Biology but ok)
Weighted GPA: 4.5 / 32 ACT
No AP scores sent, No Subject Tests sent
A bunch of APs and Honors
ECs: Educational Tutoring Club Founder and VP, AP Tutoring Platform Founder (Multiple School wide w/ over 5k views and hundreds of users), Abroad-Internship at School of Medicine, National Award for Data Usage/Research, Participated in school music department for 3 instruments (each 3+ years), Semi-Finalist Honors Music Competition, Certified and Licensed CPR and PADI Rescue Diver.
Heres a rough estimate of one of my classmates who got WAITLISTED:
WAITLISTED:
Major: Engineering
Weighted GPA: 4.67 / 1580 SAT
A lot of 5s and some 800s
ECs: Robotics, internships probably, and some other stuff.
In retrospect, I believe that the admissions just didn’t think you fit the “Davis” vibe. But do not fret! You still have a chance to get into all the other UCs for sure! Don’t stress over it, at the end of the day, let them decide if you would fit there.
@ggbears In another thread you posted your sophomore grades and it doesn’t look like you would have a 4.5 UC GPA. Can you re-calculate and post your UC GPA? https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Does anyone know if UCD sends out physical acceptance letters/packages in the mail?
If so, when should I expect to receive it? (I’m OOS)
I was accepted OOS (WA State) for Animal Biology, provost award, 4.0 UW GPA, 33 ACT.

oh lol @TheBeyonder i got accepted to UC Davis last year. haha but i was just stating that some exceptional students are rejected because of that reason
for the davis waitlisting essay, can I write one that is similar to my application personal insight question? Do they look at that again?
@musiciangoaler: Your waitlist essay should be specific for UC Davis, why you want to attend (cite specific programs/clubs/organizations if possible) and how you would be an asset to UCD as a student. I would not use any of your personal insight essays.
@musiciangoaler I agree and would add that, if your original essay wasn’t enough to convince them that you should be accepted then using the same or similar essay isn’t likely to change their mind.
Hi! Just wanna give some hope to new applicants for next year. I was accepted to UCD with a UW 3.43 and 1460 SAT!!
@iwannagotouci: If you have not already posted all your decision information please post on this thread: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-davis/2129458-uc-davis-class-of-2023-decision-thread-stats-only.html#latest
If youre a junior planning to apply next year, remember stats aren’t everything! My advice would be to keep up your gpa above a 4.0 if you can and to make sure your extra curriculars stand out! Clubs are good and stuff but show your interest for your community or to the rest of the world! For ex) tutor kids, do Global glimpse to volunteer wok outside of U.S, etc… My stats were GPA 4.3 SAT 980, lol it is what it is but remember who you genuinely are as an individual stands out way more!
@adbout I’m wondering the same thing. Has anyone received actual “you are in!” letter from Davis?
Accepted
GPA: 4.1
SAT: 1460
Lots of EC
Work
Acceptances: UCD, UCSC, Ohio State, SDSU, CSUF
Waitlists: UCSD
Rejections: UCSB, USC, UNC-Chapel Hill, Boston University, Northeastern, Cal Poly SLO
I got mine today but I’m in state
Maybe I’ll get mine today? I have no idea but I literally live like an hour away from Davis so hopefully I will today or tmr @ichibanmama
