That’s true. But I thought someone said the other UCs were more than 30%? Anyway, I’ll edit my response if I can.
@lkg4answers is the other UC Forum Champion whom mentioned that UCSB use to have a pie chart showing PIQ’s and EC’s/Activities would make up 50% of their application review criteria. I remember seeing that chart several years ago however, since the UC’s have gone test blind and continue to update their comprehensive application review criteria, that information is no longer valid. As stated, unless specifically referenced by an AO, weighting of the UC application review criteria can only be a guess estimate.
Are we expecting UC Davis decisions today ?
At one time (3+ years ago), UCSB shared their weighting on their website and in info sessions. BUT… the 50% that they considered was not just PIQ. At that time, academic factors (GPA, test scores, A-G, etc) were weighted at 50%. PIQ, A&A and other factors that provided context were 50%. They no longer use that weighting system. I shared it in your Merced thread as an example of what another UC used to do.
Yes, decisions should be out around 3 PM PST.
Good luck today to all that applied!! sending the best energy to you guys today definitely nervous… but hoping for the best!

Son got in! He is so excited. Undeclared social science. 4.18 UC GPA, 5 APs, 4 honors, good ECs and part time job. The UCs are a long shot for all kids given the number of applications. Just rejected to UW yesterday so this is good.

Also rejected. But we were expecting this. 3.6 uw GPA, 4.0 UC GPA (although not sure if is less capped) – 7 honors courses, no APs. ECs included varsity sports all four years, captain senior year, 160 plus hours of volunteering, a summer internship at a non-profit, and a service trip abroad among other things. Congrats to everyone who was accepted!
