I know but the 2nd link I provided tells that Phil 4 fulfills it as well.
Oh I see. Look, all you need to do is get de anza to certify IGETC. It’s 100% their call. The UCs honor whatever the CCC certifies.
I question if it is a mistake because classes usually do not get certified for 1b unless both critical thinking and comp are combined. But since assist notes it, and you tell them you took it in good faith, you have grounds to really push for certification. Before you take any other class, go talk to a de anza advisor.
Again, I know for a fact the UCs honor the CCC’s certification. So DeAnza just needs to sign off on it.
@penguinluver no, the second link specifies that phil 4 was removed from meeting the requirement in 1993.
Ah, yeah. Get into English 2. Too late to take Phil 3, as you already took 4 and its out of sequence.
Good catch @FUTUREUCLABRUIN1
Ten more days!!!
Good luck to everybody! As far as I know Davis is pretty lenient on transfer applicants (over 50% acceptance rate), but it is still nerve wracking I must admit haha
^^ thanks! I hope you’re right! I just started getting nervous when I read there were more than 15k transfer applicants for about 3k spots! I feel like I have a good shot, pretty good gpa, not a very popular major, IGETC done, pre reqs almost done…but I still don’t those numbers!!
@statrans They admit a lot more than they have room for as not everyone that is admitted will enroll. I wouldn’t worry about that too much.
@statrans
Haha, I understand your concern. I think everyone is a little nervous and feel like some part of their application is lacking and therefore will not be accepted. For me I am a bio major and I haven’t finished all my major prereqs (since I didn’t decide on that major until after my freshman year and I’d have to take like 30 units both semesters in this academic year to complete it!!! crazy haha) which makes me a little nervous but I figure I will be able to do it in the summer sessions.
As for the spots… Not everybody that is accepted will take a spot therefore to ensure filling the spots they accept a much higher rate (I believe it was over 7000 accepted last year or something crazy like that). If you think about it, lots of people use Davis as a back up school and if they get into Cal or UCLA or some other higher rated school then they’re most likely going there.
^ good point guys!! I can’t wait until the decisions come out
Most of you have probably seen last year’s UCD transfer numbers posted online:
Applicants - 14,459
Admitted - 8,295
Admit rate - 57%
Number of spaces for admission is about 3000 (depending on departments), so many admitted students SIR to a different university.
93% of admitted transfer students were from California community colleges.
This year they state that they had about 15,300 transfer applications. However, admit numbers have been capped at last year’s number (maybe a bit more). So, that would put this year’s admit rate around 54%.
Thanks @DavisCowsRule
About 2000 to 2500 of those admitted are TAG applicants, and some of those might choose to go to another school. But that leaves about 6000 admission offers for non-TAG people. Figure about 7000 applicants will be rejected.
Should I worry then? @_@
@penguinluver - Bio Sci is one of the most popular majors at UCD, and all majors in that department are considered selective majors this year. Which means that you should have all prereqs for the major completed, though you might be able to have some courses for the IGETC missing - if they are not required for your major and you complete the courses over the summer or upon entering the university. Last year, people did get admitted with a 3.0 - 3.2 GPA. So, who knows??? I think it is best at this point not to worry too much, because what happens will happen. Best to just plan for the best options whatever comes. If you do not get in this year, perhaps plan to work hard on bringing up the grades and complete all the required work through the coming year. Apply for TAG in September. Don’t give up hope, and don’t get discouraged. Just plan for several scenarios…either you get in or you don’t - but you always have options.
Oh, also - AP courses will count toward unit credit and for course work… For instance, if you passed the US History AP with a 3 to 5 score, you will have 8 units credit applied and will have satisfied the US History requirement. However, if you want the History 17A and 17B credited toward a degree (for certain majors), you would have to take the courses. AP Calculus gives unit credit and counts toward Calculus 16 series (I think), but engineers, etc., would have to take the 21 series at UC Davis.
Also, those who passed the AP Calculus will still be required to take the Precalculus Diagnostic Exam once admitted.
However, if you took Calculus at your CCC, your courses will count toward any major requirements. Engineers might still have to take a different series (17 or 21).
@penguinluver - @lindyk8 is right that the English must be completed for admission, regardless of completing other IGETC course work.
How/when will they let you know if you are chosen for Regents Scholarship?
@sliceoflife24 Most probably with an admission offer on the 17th.
Can I get a chance?
GPA: 3.46 when i applied, 3.31 after
Major: Electrical Engineering
Prereqs: All finished by Spring Quarter
IGETC: Finished by Spring Quarter
I got rejected from UCSC and UCSB so far… and UCD is my #1 school but I’m having doubts that I can even get in.
Just for some UCD fun, watch Gunrock dance around campus (the students wearing hats with pins on them are members of the Band-uh!):
