@ElusiveStudent: You have a really good chance of getting in. My friend had almost the same stats as you and she was one of the first people to get accepted last year.
@kmariel Good luck to you as well!
Will my Davis TAG still be valid if i have over the max transferable quarter units (105)?
I think as long as they’re CC only credits… then you’ll be fine…
Can anyone chance me as a Regents applicant? Sorry for asking too much.
GPA: 3.96
Major: Economics
TAGed
Missing 1 pre-req
ECs: Internship at an insurance agency, PTK Honor Society member, intercollegiate athletics, 4+ years of volunteering at a church.
Letter of Rec. from the intern employer.
Thank you in advance.
@sliceoflife24 Looks great! You have a good chance at the scholarship - good luck that it happens for you!
Just got home from the UCD Native American Powwow…Had a really good time! It was Decision UC Davis for admitted freshman, and the campus had a crowd.
@DavisCowsRule Thank you!
Are you a current UCD student or associated with the campus? You seem very knowledgeable towards the subject, not to mention your name… haha
Thanks @DavisCowsRule ! I’m a bio major so from what you said, I won’t have to retake it! I’ll still go to an advisor to make sure everything matches up though! Also April 17th needs to come sooner!!
@sliceoflife24 I’m what is termed (by UCD students) a “Davis Youth” - meaning I was born and raised in Davis, and my whole family (parents, siblings, cousins) are UCD graduates - just not me…yet. Many of my neighbors and their offspring are also UCD people (grads, professors, etc). Davis is kind of a “company town” -
so I’m applying for Clinical Nutrition (not very popular major). I’m missing some pre-reqs… a series of Ochem (my CC doesn’t offer) and missing BIOLSCI 2A and half of BIOLSCI 2B (my CC divides it into two classes). I’m hoping it doesn’t affect my chances into UCD I’m getting very anxious!
@ktrinccby I am thinking the OChem missing is less a problem than maybe the Bio Sci missing for Clinical Nutrition. The major is in the College of A & E, and they can make decisions with somewhat different criteria than Engineering or L & S (sometimes more forgiving). What is your GPA? Plan two can be an extra year of CC to finish the series. Don’t get too anxious, things will be okay.
I am a statistics major (also unpopular?) I am missing 2 pre reqs, one that I will complete this summer-- I have a 3.4 gpa, Davis is my only option, so I’m crazy nervous.
@statrans Which prereqs are you missing?
Can anyone answer a question for me? I applied with a 3.07 GPA because I failed a Bio 1 class last semester. I’m an English major and all of my other grades are all A’s and B’s. Will that one F from last semester greatly affect my chances of getting into Davis? Before that class, I had a 3.55. Also, on our application we were able to put down the extra curriculars we did in high school and I was very involved in high school. Will that help in my favor?
@KingOfTheClouds When you filled out your TAU, did you add anything about repeating the course (this semester or during summer)? Was the Bio class the only science you had other than a physical science course? If you are willing to repeat the course before fall, they might say okay. But you’d probably have a condition for admittance that you pass the class. The extra curriculars help, but aren’t the first thing that is looked at (grades usually are). But, admissions look at a lot of things before they make a decision - Hang in there…
@DavisCowsRule I didn’t add anything about repeating the course in my TAU. In regards to other science classes, I also already had another Bio class completed with a B that counts for IGETC.
@DavisCowsRule I am missing calc 3 of the 21 series (taking in summer) and intro to programming CS- I didn’t do the CS class on purpose because at my ccc I have to take 2 classes and at Davis only 1- now I’m wishing I would have though
@KingOfTheClouds Since you had another Bio class, so long as you still have 60 units without the one you failed, it will probably be okay. However, if admitted, they might still require you pass the class before being able to register for Fall classes.
@statrans UCD’s Math & Stats are a really great group of people - You’ll like them a lot if you come to Davis! Taking the Calculus 21C this summer would probably be okay by them. You might not be in trouble about the Comp Sci class, because not too many people transfer into Statistics, and having the math and statistics reqs are most important. However, if admitted, you will have to take ECS 30 or 40 at UCD, unless you take it at your CC over the summer. Warning: They are known as “weeder” classes (40 is harder than 30). If you take the Comp Sci at UCD, try to get into Sean Davis’s class - My brother was a TA for one of these classes about a year ago. For someone who isn’t a Comp Sci major, get a good tutor when you start the class and go to office hours.
