Anyway I already SIR to day
Accepted for Econ! Although I already had a TAG, the official acceptance feels much sweeter
3.8-9 GPA, IGETC certified, missing one pre-req
Strong ECs
Few questions for those that may be able to answer:
- If we're awarded a University Grant but then qualify for a lesser amount Cal Grant later on, does our award get reduced... Or do they do this: Cal Grant+lowered University Grant=original University Grant amount?
- Are we allowed to take summer courses at our community college? I may just knock out that missing pre-req
Congrats to all who got in! And for those who didn’t, appeal! You don’t loose anything by submitting an appeal. Lastly, as cliche as it is on this board, college really is what you make of it. It doesn’t define how successful you’ll be-- YOU define how successful you’ll be. Put in that hard work and crush your goals!
@napapapa Do you mind sending me a PM or telling the board those FB groups? I’d be interested in joining them as well! I know there is a transfer one that was made… but how about any housing groups, etc?

As you can see this site censors FB so you’ll have to put that in the address bar.
If you don’t feel like doing that then just search for the post that "
Tiffany M. Louie" made and you’ll see all the group links she provided. That would be easier.
Awesome, you are the best! Appreciate the links @napapapa
What’s the acceptance rate from the waitlist?

99% likely going to Davis! does anyone happen to know how SB’s communication program might be to compare? I’ve tried looking but pretty much everything is 2010 and before, and all of SB’s rankings are from 2004(?) and a lot could have changed since then.

@jonuni94 To answer #2, yes you can take summer classes at your cc
how come they need my high school transcripts? I don’t wanna go back there lmaoo
How much does tuition cost? Including housing, food, transportation, etc? Isn’t it around $35,000 or so? I live in Sac but I want to live on campus at Davis. I got a university grant of $17,000+. Is that enough?
Thought I’ll help the future transfers
Major: Economics
GPA: 3.78
IGETC: Completed by the end of spring 2016
Applied: UCSD, UCD (tag), UCSB, UCSC
Accepted: UCSD, UCD, UCSC
Rejected: UCSB (missing two calc prereqs for major)
@dolpy1blue Hey, I’m a fellow econ transfer as well! Aren’t you missing two calc prereqs for UCD and the others as well? From what I understand, all UCs require Calc I and Calc II for econ… however, I think UCSB allows you to articulate a Business Calc class in place of those two… Anyway, was just curious haha
@velairi Great, thanks for the answer!
@dolpy1blue Did you get the Cal grant at other schools, but a University grant at UCD?
Anyway to answer your question, you can lower that to $32k if you have health insurance by submitting the SHIP waiver(I think it’s called). Also, while it may be $32k, many things can be lowered like books where they have it around $1,500… If you buy used, I’ve heard of students being able to get by at much lower than $1,000 for a year for books… Also, if you room with others your second year, the costs are vastly lowered. Personal expenses, food, etc are all things that you can budget to lower your costs.
If anyone else has more insight on true cost of attendance feel free to chime in. I’m sure there are others who have looked at this more extensively than I have.
Hey @jonuni94 I’m not missing any calc classes for Davis. I’m taking the science version of Calc that’s only 3 units. I’m missing Calc 2 and 3 (science version) which UCSD and UCSB need but somehow I got into UCSD…
I got an estimate from UCSC that my financial aid would be $35,000 and I can’t access UCSD financial aid unless I SIR. I think the Davis grant I got was the Blue and Gold one. I didn’t see anything from Cal Grant. But honestly I don’t really know the difference between the two cause I don’t qualified for financial aid at my cc until this year but now I’m transfering so it’s even more confusing for me.
I made a transfer waitlist thread!
Has anyone been looking at the transfer housing options available at UCD? Comparing transfer housing UCD to UCSB for my son, we are only considering university owned apartments. The Davis options look much nicer- no shared bedrooms and most with private baths. Hard to compare prices because pricing options are packaged differently. Are there any recent threads on transfer housing for either school?
