Major: Mathematics
GPA: 3.24 (after TAU, it was 3.18 at time of application)
TAG: No
IGETC: completing foreign language requirement this semester
Pre-reqs: completing last 3 math classes this Spring
Accepted: UCR, UCSB, UCD, various CSUs
Pending: UCI, UCSC
I’m also taking a CS course this semester, but not the correct articulated one on assist (ENG CS 30).
As a personal note, I’m pretty sure that completing pre-reqs had a huge impact on my admission to universities, my friend has a comparable GPA but is not taking 2 of the math courses I am right now; same major and schools, quality PS, but got rejected so far. (She’s waiting a year and is changing her major anyways so not terrible news)
I’m very happy for all the people in this thread receiving good news
@boxandwhiskers I’m glad to hear you both heard back right away and can finally relax!
Do you think I have a chance of successfully appealing?
When I applied to Davis, I had a 3.06, Fall '15 increased it to 3.2 (I got all A’s), and in the winter I retook a Calculus class I previously failed. I received an A and my GPA shot up 3.42. For the Spring, I have a full course load and one of my psychology classes was only eight weeks and I got an A. My GPA is currently a 3.44 (3.37 UC transferable). I’m a psych major and in my psychology classes, I have a 3.68. (5 A’s and 1 C). I’ve gotten all A’s this school year. Do you think if I appealed and sent them an unofficial transcript, I might have a shot as overturning my rejection? I got into UCR, but I honestly would love to go to either Irvine (still pending) or Davis. Thanks.
Complete all transferable in progress or planned courses with a GPA of 3.20 or higher, with no grade less than “C,” by the end of your spring term. To achieve the minimum overall UC-transferable grade point average required, you may need to achieve higher than “C” grades. In addition, you must be in good standing at each collegiate institution that you have attended.
Does this mean 3.2 overall GPA or 3.2 for spring term?
Also, can anyone access their financial aid package yet?
CC transfer
Major: Managerial Economics
GPA: 3.35 (re-entry with a strong upward trend, 3.85 over last two years)
Major GPA: 4.0
IGETC: Done
Pre-reqs: Done
EC: Volunteer with the elderly, part-time bookkeeper, PTK
Accepted: UCSC, UCSB, UCD (TAG)
Rejected: None yet
Pending: UCSD, UCLA, UCB
My TAG was approved, so this doesn’t come as a huge surprise, but I have heard horror stories of TAGs being rejected for no apparent reason, so I’m happy to have an acceptance locked down. If I don’t get into UCSD or Berkeley (both of which are long shots), I’ll be starting here in the summer.
Major: Electrical Engineering (My major at other schools is mathematics, but I tagged here as electrical engineering)
GPA: 3.93-3.94 ish
W’s: around 6 at the time (have somewhat of an explanation, not necessarily the strongest though)
IGETC: hopefully done by spring
Prereqs: done by spring (taking Discrete Math)
EC’s: Programming job over last summer, engineering club (changed majors), volunteering in high school
PS: 4/10 (not the greatest personal statement)
TAG: Tagged to UCD - Probably did not get me admitted because my community college listed a course which was no longer being offered yet was included in my tag agreement.
Major: Philosophy
GPA: 3.64?
Major GPA: 4.0
Pre-reqs: Not too sure. I believe I finished all which were available to me after I applied. (There’s a pre-req course which will be taught next Fall)
EC: Philosophy club and activities from high school
Essay: Not sure.
