- Is it required to go? I live 10 hours away and can't afford to fly out more than once (was saving my flight for move-in day)
- If I do go, do my parents have to go? I was most likely going to fly in by myself.

You’ll be registering for classes, getting your ID card and setting up your accounts. You’ll be staying in the dorms.
It’s okay if you don’t go, but you may not get the classes you want.
Southwest is your friend.

Your parents do not have to go but there are many helpful information sessions worth attending specifically for the parents.
Your parents might also want to consider getting a Southwest Chase credit card to accumulate points so you can fly home during breaks. I have been using mine for my son’s flights to UCD for the last 4 years.
