So I got into accepted at UCI today after being waitlisted, but I SIR’d to Davis. Which should I go to? I got into UCD for Neurobiology, and UCI for Public Health. My goal in the end is med school. I live in SoCal, but the 7 hour difference isn’t a problem for me.

I’d go to Davis if you want a full college experience. Having visited both campuses, I can tell you that Irvine is much, much smaller in size and is more of a commuter school. It is also heavily Asian, hence the various jokes about uci. Did you visit both campuses? Both have medical schools, so it just depends on where you like it better. I personally chose Davis over Irvine, and I’m also from SoCal

So I visited UC Irvine for the first time yesterday and I think I’m choosing Davis. My dad and I were unimpressed by Irvine’s campus. It’s very small (there’s a 1 mile circle path that brings you around the entire campus) and the dorms are quite unattractive, they were the biggest thing I didn’t like about UCI. They reminded me of motels and the kitchen and laundry room that we saw weren’t very clean especially compared to Davis’, but then again, I only visited middle earth. The atmosphere, however, seemed friendly because the campus was small, and my tour guide knew a lot of people while bringing us around, but it just didn’t make me excited. The buildings weren’t as nice as Davis’ (although I have to say the engineering building was very pretty). Overall, both me and my dad agreed that we liked everything about Davis better except for the location, which we agreed that Irvine was better because it’s closer to where I live and the LA. But that isn’t a big problem, since Davis is close to San Francisco anyway and I can still visit my parents more often than if I were to go out of state. I’m excited to be an Aggie next year!
