UC Davis or UC Santa Barbara Engineering

Which is better for undergraduate engineering?

Davis > Santa Barbara for engineering probably, but Santa Barbara > Davis in general.

UCSB is ranked higher overall in the US News Graduate Engineering rankings. However, both schools are unranked in the US News Undergraduate Engineering rankings -- just to keep things in perspective.

Would one school be easier to get a higher gpa than the other?

well to my knowledge i have head that Davis is a better school for engineering

um, UCD is repeatedly ranked in the top 10 for engineering

The schools are going to be far closer in difficulty than any 2 random engineering colleges you pick. They are drawing from the same pool of students, are in the same system so they offer the same courses, etc.

And if you're worried about which is "easier" you should be sure you'd like the school you choose if you're not an engineer. With dropout rates for undergrad engineering above 50%, already worrying about grades is not the most encouraging thing.

UCD and UCSB are not unranked in Undergrad E rankings:

First of all, thank you starbuck for that information. I've been dying to see the rest of the rankings, but since I'm not a member of U.S. News, I couldn't access that. Second, I think I should rephrase my question. I didn't really mean which school is easier (since it's true that they both really have the same classes). What I really meant was: which school would potentially have less competition? Many people think that UCSB would be less competitive because of the whole party scene, but I really don't think that is the case. I was unsure, so I asked...

Your opinions?
