hello, I am admitted to both UCSB and UCD, I don't know which one to go to for Economics major, I want to go to UCSB to live it up but same time complete school work, I also want to go to Davis because I heard it moved up in rankings recently and became the 3rd best UC, but I heard it's very boring there unless you join a frat. What do you guys think???? Let me know! Thanks for the opinions!

They are both excellent schools. Have you visited them? Make your own impressions, don’t borrow someone else’s.

Bump!!’

Not sure how you could go wrong either or them. Sounds like you need to spend a weekend at Davis to check out the scene.

why what’s so special about Davis?

UCD is tied with UCSD exactly one notch above where UCSB is tied with others. You should go where you want to live for four years, imho.

^Why do you mention UCSD, OP is asking between UCD and UCSB. OP, UCSB is better known for economics than UCD.

@DrGoogle I mention UCSD because it is the one tied with UCD. If a different university were, I’d have mentioned them. USNews has UCSD and UCD both at ‘39’ but then UCSB and others at ‘41’ and it makes a difference that the tie means UCSD and UCD are really 39 and 40 because my point is that UCSB is as close as it can get to UCD even in the USNews ranking, unless they were tied with each other.

but UCSB has a better Econ program so UCSB will lead to better job opportunities in the future right?

There is no guarantee for better job opportunities because it depends on a lot of things, however, from what I’ve read it can lead to better acceptance to graduate school. If everything else is equal, I would pick the university that is strong in your indented major. I know most students change major but so far not in our family and extended families.

I think you should go where you feel the best fit. Where do you feel the most “at home”? Happy people get better opportunities in the long run.
