Hey I received this from UC Davis. It is 18 questions long. Does this mean I am a borderline applicant, because if I am this is a bad sign as I plan on applying to a lot more competitive private schools!!! Im scared and worried HELP ME
Thank you for your interest in UC Davis for fall 2020. Undergraduate Admissions is carefully reviewing your application. It would help us to receive additional information from you in order to make the best possible holistic review assessment of your application.
Please thoroughly complete the Supplemental Review Questionnaire at:
Be sure to include your fall 2019 grades and spring 2020 coursework-in-progress. It is important to submit the questionnaire with the requested information as soon as possible.
In addition, you may also request support of your application from another individual (e.g., counselor, teacher, employer, organizational leader, religious official) who may complete and submit a Recommendation Form. To identify the recommending candidate of your choosing, provide their contact information in the area located at the end of your questionnaire. A notice to submit an online Recommendation Form will be sent directly by Undergraduate Admissions to the person you identified.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this request.
The UC’s will request an Augmented review from applicants that meet the criteria listed below. This does not mean you are a borderline applicant but they want additional information to help in their decision.

What are the five specific conditions under which an applicant might be selected for an augmented/supplemental review?
Evidence of focus on an area of special talent which may have limited a student’s time to participate in a broader range of activities.
Evidence of character traits that imply a strong likelihood of making a significant contribution to campus life.
Evidence of significant academic achievement or the potential for academic achievement at the University in spite of extraordinary or compound disadvantage or learning difference, or physical disability or other unusual circumstances.
Evidence of significant improvement in the academic record accompanied by one or both of the following: reasons for the initial poor performance; and/or sustained and in-depth participation in educational outreach programs, which demonstrate the applicant’s commitment to succeed academically within a challenging environment.
Evidence of relative lack of access to, counseling about, or support to take college preparatory, honors, Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) classes or required college entrance examinations.
That is interesting. I don’t remember seeing many posts like this about Davis in the past. In your “chance me” thread you write about some unique extracurriculars and an extenuating circumstance. Maybe they are looking for a little more background information about those.
@lkg4answers: Since I have been a CC member for the last 7 years and I have seen several posts regarding the supplemental/augmented review requests especially from UC Davis so this is nothing new, however I believe the UC Regents instituted a new Augmented Review policy starting 2018-2019 admission cycle with a cap of 15% of the applicants.

You are obviously much more experienced than I am. I’ve seen schools asking for supplemental information but not the LOR/recommendation form at schools other than Berkeley. Maybe it is out there but is just more common at Berkeley.
@lkg4answers: The augmented review has allowed applicants to submit LOR’s as part of the review process previously. UCB instead of the questionnaire that the other campuses use for their supplemental/augmented review, started asking for just LOR’s in 2015. Applicants with the augmented review can also submit transcripts to help verify and/or aid the AO’s in their application review.

Are other UC campuses also accepting letters of recommendation?
Other UC campuses may later request additional information from applicants under guidance of the UC Policy on Augmented Review. If additional information is needed, applicants will be notified individually by each campus.
