UC Davis Regent's, LOR Passed Due already!!!

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to transfer to UCD from De Anza CC this Fall. I was really interested in the USD's Regent's Scholarship. According to their website, in order to qualify for this scholarship you need to have a 3.8 GPA as well as at least one LoR. I already have a >3.8 GPA, and I've been waiting\looking for the right time to submit my letters ever since I applied for UCs in November.
I was never asked for LoRs in my general application for UCs. (In fact, the website deliberately said that they don't accept letters of recommendation at that time.)
I supposed UCD would contact me when the time to submit the letters comes, but never received anything regarding Regent's Scholarship.

Just recently, I checked their website and found out that the LoR were actually due on Jan 8! I called the their office and they said I was supposed to submit my letters as I was applying in November. They told me there was a link to another website that we could submit our letters there. They also said they've sent an email to everyone asking to submit their letters.

I wonder if anyone else had the same problem? I don't really trust what I've been told because I'm pretty sure I read the whole UC application website several times and never saw anything like that.
Does anyone know if how does it really work? Has anyone received the UCD Regent's Scholarship before? When and how did you submit your LoRs?

Thanks

That’s pretty weird because UCD sent me an email reminding me (and more like informing me since I never even knew about it) about the scholarship opportunities and about the required LoR. And they sent me this reminder around right before Christmas.

What I did was go on the website of UCD’s prestigious scholarships, pretty much their financial aid/scholarship website, and there should’ve been something about applying for the upcoming Fall Quarter. Then you choose Transfer Applicant. You would’ve been directed to a page where you put your name and a couple things and then provide the name, email and phone number of the person you were going to ask to do a LoR for you. UCD would then contact that person about it and give them instruction on how to submit their LoR.

Idk what else you can do! Sorry for the mishap! Maybe you put the wrong email address for the UCs to contact you?

Hey @kasra321,

I would be lying if I said I was aware of the regents scholarship at all but I did apply to UCD and never got any word from them about any scholarships or LoR. I hope to hear that this isn’t the case for the other universities I applied to and I’m sorry that this happened to you :(

I hope you are able to get some other sort of financial aid.

Same thing happened to me, I never even emailed them or informed them that I was interested in the scholarship. I just simply received an email from the prestigious scholarships department informing me that I qualified for the scholarship, and that I just simply needed a LOR to complete the app (it was that simple). I received the email before christmas, about two weeks after I submitted my app.
