I received a notification earlier this week from UC Davis Scholarship department about the deadline for a letter of recommendation. So I contacted my Professor, who wrote me a letter of recommendation. Through the UC Davis scholarship system I had to send him a link. I'm not sure exactly what the link required him to do, but he said it did not require him to attach a letter of recommendation.

My question is has anyone else gone through this process? Is there something wrong with the link that was sent to him?

I'm kind of lost in this situation, and the deadline is January 7.

It seems to be for all scholarships from the University itself, like the UC Regents.

The Website states:
"Scholarship Application for Prospective and Entering Undergraduates
The UC Application for Admission and Scholarships serves as your application for campus-based scholarships at UC Davis. Your application must be completed by November 30, and a minimum 3.25 GPA is required. Be sure to read all instructions pertaining to scholarships when completing the application, paying particular attention to the restricted scholarship eligibility codes.

Scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year have been awarded and recipients have been notified by email. Additional scholarships may be awarded as funding becomes available.

Freshmen Applicants
No additional information is required for freshman applicants, unless specifically requested to do so.

Transfer Applicants
APPLY NOW FOR 2015-2016
Our scholarship application for the 2015-2016 academic year is now available. The deadline to apply is January 7, 2015.

Transfer applicants can submit a letter of recommendation for additional consideration. Although it is suggested, the recommendation not required. However, in order to be considered for the Regents Scholarship, transfer applicant must have a minimum 3.8 GPA and must submit a letter of recommendation. The online letter of recommendation request is available from October 1, 2014 through January 7, 2015. Letters of recommendation received after January 7, 2015 will not be considered."

Wow, that is so weird. I had no idea UCD wants a letter of recommendation before they even look at the applications. Wouldn’t they get inundated with letters from students who aren’t even in the ball park? And the deadline is Jan 7, during winter break and you can’t even get to it until you have your ID from your application receipt (which might be end of Nov).

I don’t think any other UC requires you to do anything but submit an application. They select the candidates based on that. Odd.
