UC Davis SIR: Official Class of 2010!

Good luck with Integrated Honors Program, I've heard it's hard but I have nothing to do there cuz my main major is Applied Math/Econ More likely I'll go to DHC, or however you call Davis Honors System

What do you mean "nothing to do there"? You still have to fulfill the GE/breadth requirements.

Actualy, Irbis, I was referring to Honors classes in general; I wasn't given a scholarship, so I'll probably end up applying to DHC as well XD I'll see you there, maybe!!

I am not interested in learning Science during Renessence period (cannot even spell that) or African American discrimination during Great Depression. IMHO IH has nothing to do with my major and the only thing it can give me is pain in my butt, but I am sure it's very helpful to students who major in Art or English

^Irbis, you still have to complete the GE requirements to graduate, regardless of whether you are "not interested."

But wouldn't it be better to do with easier classes, rather than honorst? GPA is still same

what do u have to do to get into the program? do you have to stick with your major? right now im set as history but i might switch to polisci. not sure yet!

Notation on your transcript... maybe others who know more about the program can elaborate.

If you got Regents, you are invited to apply. if not, after you send your SIR if you're in the top 3% or 4% of enrolled students I believe they send you an offer to apply.

"Prospective DHC Students

Thank you for your interest in Davis Honors Challenge (DHC), an innovative, open-application, campuswide honors program for highly motivated students. DHC provides students with an enhanced education through special courses, closer contact with faculty, and dynamic interactions with academically-motivated peers. In addition to a mentor program and residential living-learning community, DHC offers students the opportunity to participate in an honors program for four years.

All incoming first-year students and on-campus first-year students are invited to apply by submitting an on-line essay application for admission to the program."

That's different. There's two different Davis Honors programs: DHC (anyone can apply for) and Integrated Honors (invite).

Oh, sorry, forgot to tell, I moved to the US 2 years ago from Russia, so even though I have A in my P World Lit, I am not sure my skills in English are good enough for that IS program, but I'll definitely try to get into DHC cuz they have nice science courses

Argh the Davis Engineering picnic day is on the 22nd and I really want to go to that so I can talk to the professors about courses and stuff, but the Celebrate Irvine info thing is on the 22nd as well and I haven't decided which one (leaning more toward Davis right now). I guess they're making me decide before May 1. Where should I go? You guys tell me.

Davis of course :)

Im 90% sure I will go to Davis, but im still pondering Santa Cruz

Im going on the 15th, and Im from SoCal so itll be a long drive

does it matter when i fill out the sir? i still needa visit the campus before i fill it out and that's not until the 15th.

ant161: GO TO DAVIS. It's a MUCH better school. And you're from SoCal? So am I!!!!! Where in SoCal????

Darkstar2466, go to Davis. I've seen both campuses and the atmoshphere seems much better...as in happier, more lively, more action. even though UCI is in the O.C, it didn't seem very populated or exciting at the event of Celebrate UCI april 22.

Hey my name is Khalid! i'll be coming to UCD this fall! Chose it over USC cuz of its art program! Can't wait to study art and get to california! I'm from Kuwait (half kuwaiti, half lebanese) :D The only thing i'm not looking forward to is the 3 planes i'm going to have to take to get to cali!
