Hello, I am also a current community college student wanting to transfer to UC Davis for Fall 2016 through the TAG program.
Current GPA: 3.85
Intended Major: International Relations
Extracurriculars: Nothing except I worked as a babysitter from 4 am til 8 am for two semesters and took mostly night classes; I ran into some issues so I wasn’t able to take many classes during my first year.
I can speak, read, and write in Polish (it’s my native language) and I am currently teaching myself Japanese, French, and German, don’t know if that helps at all but hahah oh well!
I received A’s in History, Spanish, Statistics and Probability, Political Science, TV, and then one B in Microeconomics.
I applied to Davis back in high school, I was waitlisted for International Relations and then rejected (the rejection didn’t stop me from trying to get in a second time haha) so I was wondering if this time I have a better chance of getting into that major?
In high school I did pretty good, got straight A’s and did a ton of volunteering all of high school but my SAT/ACT scores weren’t the best.
It says that you need to have 30 transferrable units to apply for TAG. I have 21 units right now, but my AP exams gave me 18 units so technically speaking I have 39 units. Do the units I received from my AP exams count towards the 30 required to apply for TAG? If not, that’s fine I will do the regular application process and see next April if I got in however I would love to be able to get in on the TAG program since it has been my dream school for a couple of years now. I really really want to go there so I hope this time is my chance to go!
Also, I won’t be able to finish the required 4 semesters of Spanish, I will be able to finish 2 or 3 of them, is that a big deal when applying or will I be able to finish them once I transfer? I did 4 years of Spanish in high school, don’t know if that helps at all.
I am fine on units, I will have 66 units (100 UC Quarter Units) total once I finish CC (AP Exams included), so hopefully it isn’t too much of a problem for getting accepted into the major.
Thank you to anyone who replies!!
p.s. sorry it is so long I just haven’t been able to talk to counselors at school and even when I do, they don’t answer my questions that well so I am trying to research as much as I can on my own
