anyone have an answer to @mavsp1 question?
Anyone contact yet for Regents Scholarship?
I called today and had to leave a message. They will return my call in 2-3 business days.
I’m super late but I wanted to congratulate everyone for their hard work. As an admitted student, I’m very excited about the next steps in becoming a UCD student and hope many of you continue to network for future time to come.
Cheers!
Hey everybody. I am so upset. I have applied for Computer Science and Engineering major. However, I just found out that there were just about 20 people out of 500 were accepted last year. Do you think the admission commission might still offer me admission for CS major?
Heard back from the office of scholarships, all regents offers have been made
I just called to UC Davis and they told me that the decisions will be posted soon. I don’t know when though
@Alexandr2356786 I am also a CSE major! Were you waitlisted? If so, what are your stats?
@Mitroyo My application is under review and there is no decision yet.
My stats
Major: computer science and engineering
GPA: 3.61
Essays: not as good
I am missing Chemistry prerequisite
@Mitroyo
Did you include Computer Science as your alternative major?
Does anyone know if we’ll be receiving formal acceptances in the mail?? Been waiting for a while now…
I think so
@Alexandr2356786 I think you will get accepted because your gpa is in range with who were accepted last year. If you are only missing chemistry I think you will be fine because I was missing the Circuits class prerequisite and I was still accepted. It is a little weird that they haven’t posted your decision tho. And computer science was my alternative major. I hope you get in ! Goodluck!
@Mitroyo
Thank you!
Can anyone confirm whether or not regents decisions have been made?
If you didn’t receive Regents with your aid package you didn’t get it.
I got an email today from the scholarship office saying they in fact did make decisions within that three day period of the app being due and decisions being released on the 20th.
The person then added they will submit me for over 300 other scholarships they have and will award them over the summer. I don’t need to take any additional steps.
So basicallly I have to commit, then I may have a chance to get money from them over the summer. If I got Regents, the choice between UCLA and Davis would have been tough. Now I’m conflicted. Davis did give me the best aid package. And im a firm believer in people putting their money where their mouth is. Is anyone else in here admitted to Davis and LA and making this choice as well?
@goodBrujo9 I was accepted to both UCD and UCLA. My conflict lies with if I get into Berkeley, do I choose UCD or UCB?
I applied to UCSC and they gave me the most competitive aid package because I was awarded the Regents scholarship there, but did not receive Regents at UCD or UCLA (although I was still awarded a pretty penny). Anyway, my point is, if you need the money to make attending college possible, then follow the money. If not, go to the school that you want really want to be at.
@goodBrujo9 I’m in the same situation as you! I received admission to both universities and I would have had a hard time choosing if I received Regents at UC Davis. But knowing that I didn’t receive the award at either school, my decision is clear. As a political science major, I believe UCLA is the best school to transfer to because even though the cost is relatively higher, UCLA’s has, in my opinion, a better academic environment and the propensity for opportunity. I’m looking forward to UCB’s decision on Friday but I’m probably going to UCLA either way.
Lucky ducks getting into UCLA, I got rejected, waiting on Berkeley and don’t even get me started on UCSD!
@glowgoglow @publius503 you both make good arguments.
It’s not a question if attending is possible. I got great aid packages from both schools but net cost for UCLA is $9k while Davis is $3-4K. These are built into my aid package as student loans. I was trying to avoid these all together.
Someone else mentioned that the net cost is just an estimate and it could be lower. I am going to spend the next week really looking into what is covered and housing options as well. My gut is telling me if I have to take a student loan I rather take it for UCLA.
Still waiting on USC, Stanford and Berkeley as well.
