UC Davis Transfer Fall 2018--Discussion Post

@Skepta @choukevin @jonathaanv I also got the Regents Scholarship email. I think it was automatically sent to anybody that has above a 3.8 GPA; at least, that’s what a UC Davis rep told me. Does anybody know how difficult it is to get the scholarship once you receive the email?

Just had a friend who’s also applying try logging in and he was able to also. All I know is I’m now more confused than ever.

I got the email today too, and can log on to my.ucdavi.edu. Does anyone know where we go to fill out the actual application? I’m also curious to know if anyone in the past has gotten this email but was rejected.

To add to my previous post, when I try to click the link they sent me to apply it says login failed.

I received the email for the scholarship as well and I can log into my.ucdavis.edu as well.
@BBoy99 I have a 3.6 gpa

@bk82234 same. It says login failed

@jonathaanv @bk82234 It’s saying ‘login failed’ for me too. I’ll call them tomorrow, and see what’s up.
@GxBearrr I must be misinformed then, haha.

Recieved Regents email today and came here just to see if anyone else did.

I can log into my.ucdavis as well but I have to be honest. I only applied to four UCs and Davis is honestly at the bottom of my list. So my first thought was omg. Please don’t let this be the only UC I get into. My transfer GPA is 3.93 or something. I was hoping to get into either Berkeley or UCLA. I think I would even prefer SB to Davis.

Is Davis anyone’s number one pick? I keep reading the campus is DRY. However, if they admit me, plus give me need based aid plus this scholarship, I may seriously have to consider going there.

Also, I was accepted to CSULA. Would anyone choose CSULA over Davis?

@goodBrujo9 Davis is my number one. I applied to berkeley and Davis only. Berkeley is a crapshoot so I’m fine with staying close to home if I end up getting rejected. The campus is actually dope, downtown has a couple of dope bars and the frats always keep it lit.

@jonathaanv I’m originally from DC but moved to LA 7 years ago. I’ve never been to Sacramento and the only thing I hear about it is police brutality and killings like the guy stephon Clark shot 20 Times. That and it smells like cows. I’ve only been to San Francisco which I love. I’m not a traditional student so frats and partying do not appeal to me. I’m coming to quickly finish my last 50 units so I can move to graduate school and have my masters by 2020. When you say downtown you’re referring to Sacramento?

lol thats where I recognized you from @jonathaanv I remember seeing you in last year’s UCLA transfer thread…I wish I could get accepted for bus econ ^:)^ …hope you didn’t mind me stalking your profile lol

@goodBrujo9 Davis isn’t really at the top of MY list; my parents really want me to go there because we live like 30 minutes away from campus. I really want to go to a private school (USC, CMC or USanFrancisco in particular). If I get the Regents Scholarship, I’ll probably reconsider, but I know that only a minuscule percentage of applicants actually receive it (something like the top 1-2% of accepted students), so I’m not expecting to get it.

I don’t know much about CSULA, but if you’re a Biological Sciences/agriculture/animal sciences major, then you should definitely choose Davis. Otherwise, make sure you visit the campuses and see which school is a better fit.

Good luck making your decision

BTW, my GPA is a 3.9-ish, and I’m a Biochem major.

@AGGIES17 HI I know I’m a little late but I’m a comm major as well! Just got into UCSB, now I’m just waiting for UCLA (which seems unrealistic at this point), UCB, and UCD! Excited for the future!

@SoCalx83 congrats on sb! when did you hear from them?

@Skepta I heard from them the day and hour acceptances came out, March 20th at 3:00 PM. I WAS STOKED!
I’ll be posting my stats shortly

@choukevin oh yeah lol. PM me for more info about UCLA if you’re interested in going there for Econ/ Biz Econ

@goodBrujo9 nah I mean downtown Davis. And well Davis is actually one of the safest cities in California I think. Their main crime is bike theft around campus from what I heard from friends there. Sacramento is about 35 minutes from Davis so there’s none of that there. Yeah the campus smells like cow dung, but ehhh idk I’m there for my education like you and because I have a lot of connections and resources to tap into if admitted. It’s nowhere near the top tier UCs, but I’m over presteige and name value for now. Looking toward grad school like you and going to a place where I’ll enjoy myself for undergrad.

Here are my stats, I’m kinda clinging on to hope but need encouragement from fellow college students.
I started my first year at a private uni so my standing as a CCC student is weird.

Major: Communication
GPA: 3.80
IGETC: Completed
AA-T: No
TAG: Davis
Pre-reqs: Completed (Dual enrolled in 2 CC schools to finish them)
E/C: A lot of volunteer work: 2 churches and a cat shelter(1.5+ years), was an officer at 2 clubs at my school, honors program student, Dean’s list, participated in several activities in my CC, presented at the Honors conference(will be doing the UCI conference too), and I worked 2 jobs(I’m currently working my second job as a tutor at my school)

Accepted: UCSB
Waitlisted: CSULB (kinda upsetting)
Pending: UCLA, UCB, UCD

Berkeley is going to be hard for me, but LA is gonna be a mega reach so I’m nervous. Holdin on fam!

@Skepta Where did you apply to? You still waiting on SB?

@SoCalx83 yea I TAGd to sb, applied to davis, sd, la, irvine, berkeley, santa cruz ,Cornell, USC, Yale (lol long shot). havnt heard back from anyone

Davis isn’t my top choice but I’ve been there a couple times and it has a really nice “college town” type feel to it, I think it gets a bad rep just because of the city its in.
