UC davis vs Cal poly for engineering?

I just got off the waitlist for UC davis, and I SIRed to cal poly. I was wondering if someone can give me tips on both schools? I got in for Electrcial Engineering, but wanna switch to computer science to become an actuary. I heard its not too hard to switch to comp sci at cal poly… how hard is it to do so at UC davis?

Are you talking about cal poly slo or cal poly Pomona? As long as you meet requirement, you can switch majors in both colleges. ( are you transfer or… hsgrad???) I got admitted to CIS in CPP cal poly pomona, and thought about switching to CS, but the problem with CPP is that many of classes especially CS is full with students. it’s hard to get classes at CPP and since many of CS classes need to be taken in order, many can’t graduate in 4 years. CPP have 4 year pledge and 2 year pledge ( priority registration) I guess they need to offer something like that to deal with class shortages.

If you are a freshman, you might not like UCD’s big class sizes for gen ed. taking a two years in junir college to get your low reqs done and transferring out is not a bad option.

I’m going ot UCD this fall as Transfer. i’ll be changing to CS major after a one term.

Do you have to major CS for Actuary??? my friend just passed his first Actuary test and his major as applied mathematics.

If you are math person and want to do something in tech. the job field you are looking for is called “Big Data”
you will be writing algorithms

Couple of my friends told me to just go to CSUN if i do not want to move to davis because I want to code and learning how to code is simualr every where. ( you either can code, or you can’t school name can’t help you)

UCD have two CS major. CS in L&S and CSE in College of engineering. both degreees are desired at this point.
