My son called the UC Davis admissions office yesterday and was told they will be accepting freshmen from the waitlist through the next two weeks. I did have him confirm they were referring to freshmen and not transfer students (also confirmed transfer students will be notified by June 30). This delay does make it mildly cumbersome as UCD is his first choice and starting the first week of June we need to make additional financial commitments (housing deposit & orientation fees) at his 2nd choice. Mentioning that because I wish the UC system would allow for refunds or transfer of deposits if a school is unable to keep their deadline commitments.
Who did he contact? I haven’t been able to get them to confirm anything other than stating that all freshman decisions will post by June 1st.
I called the admissions office ,and they are very hesitant to confirm anything. Someone told me that there might be an extention, and to continue checking our portals through out the day.
Have they even handed out rejections ??!!
Just called again and there is an extention according to UC DAVIS ADMISSIONS (insert eyeroll) they wouldn’t give a date
Yeah sounds about right
This is so frustrating. I wish they’d just tell us our decision, rejection or acceptance. I’m spending so much money on my second choice (dorm contract, orientation) plus senior dues. I’d have no money to accept Davis and pay their things
If there’s actually an extension they did a horrible job of keeping us updated. I wish there was an Applicants Insurance that covers all of the expenses we drop to second and third choice schools while we wait for a school that can’t even meet their own deadline.
UCD and many other UC’s do this every year
I’m so scared cuz I’m a transfer student and I feel like we r the last resort because they let all the freshmans off the waitlist first and I’m scared there might not be room for transfers . I really hope we get in
It’s easier for transfers to get in don’t worry transfers are their own seperate group seperated from the freshmen that’s why there is a totally different deadline for transfer but praying to God we both get in
I wonder if UCD and UCSD are having some connected issues. I know several users have been bouncing back and forth between waitlist threads (including myself) because both have been a far cry from punctual. Although, I noticed SD updated their result deadline to be very vague on the website, whereas Davis has not.
@nickelzzz are u a freshman or transfer ? Yeah I really hope we get in cuz if I don’t I’m not sure where I’m gonna finish my major at because I want to switch to nutrition at Davis . How do u know it’s easier for transfers? I’m actually transferring from a private college so I’m not sure how that works
That seems accurate. I think regardless, none of them care too much about following the deadlines in terms of freshmen waitlist students. I don’t know about UCSD, but UCD casually changed the deadline in the portal near the beginning of our waiting period. Now they’re not sticking to the one that’s there, either. It’s not surprising though…pretty sure some people last year didn’t get responses until July. It’s just something the waitlisted students have to deal with every year. I’m just trying to emotionally detach myself from UCD lol and mentally prepare for the backup. The wait goes on
Called this morning and was told that they are still working to fill a few select spots for class of 2021. There is no formal extension date, was advised to check portal regularly.
My sons portal was updated with a red banner this morning. He’s a waitlisted freshman.
Banner reads:
“Thank you for your patience as we continue to work on waitlist decisions. We will notify you of our final admission decision by email and on this website no later than June 30.”
And the wait continues…
My portal was just updated with the same red banner. June 30th is absolutely ridiculous.
Last year @ June 23/24 people started getting rejections.
Do u think the transfer waitlist will be notified earlier or the same
@college2345 here is a link for the transferstudents for UC Davis and it has the number of students admitted http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/campuses/davis/transfer-profile/
Although you are on the waitlist a higher number of transfers usually get admitted because there is a smaller number of transfers applying to begin with, relative to those who applied as freshmen. I really hope you get in!
Does any know how many freshman applicants if any where admitted after June 1st last year?
I fear that there will be mostly rejections moving forward and they are mercilessly stringing us along.
