Ok so I have noticed that most of the threads on this forum are for socal schools with the exception of Berkley but there has been little love for Davis. I've never been there but was wondering what the overall atmosphere, student life/ experience, etc of the town and school was so please feel free to post anything about Davis. Any UC Davis transfers last year feel free to post your first year experience. O yah and the weather??? Pros? Cons? Thanks

The weather at Davis is great! It is very similar to San Jose and the Campus has much to offer. I went on a tour yesterday with my brother and family to tour the campus and judging by the people, they are nice and absolutely social. When I walked into the Chemistry Lab building, I got a glimpse of how nice it was inside.

Also, make sure you have a bike!

I just got accepted there, and am still waiting to hear back from Cal and LA as well. I’ve been there though, and I enjoyed it!

It’s literally about 15m outside of Sacramento so you get a pretty cool smaller college town atmosphere but if you like the city it’s right there.

Check out [Davis, California - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Davis, California - Wikipedia)

Nah, Davis weather isn’t as great as the bay area or socal. It gets extremely rainy (as in pouring rain & it hails too) & cold during winter and hot during summer.
But the campus itself is very nice. Bikers rule that place and it’s pretty amazing to see almost everyone bikes there. (Heck, I saw my math professor biked to class ) The campus is huge but even if you don’t have a bike, it’s not hard to walk from one class to the next in 10 minutes.
Downtown is less than 5 minutes away if you bike. But even if you don’t bike, the UCD bus system is quite convenient as well. If you’re undergrad, you can take the local bus for free w/ your student ID that can take you to nearby cities like sacramento.
Davis is a college town. Downtown is tiny, but there are some very nice restaurants. The overall atmosphere of davis is pretty laid back. But there are tons of student clubs, frats, and sororities on campus.

And yes, the chem lab rooms are very nice and spacious.

I love davis! Has a summer camp vibe for me lol, the entire town is made up of students, it is NOT a commuter school (which I like), it is in a beautiful environment with tons of trees, it has the best Rec center I’ve ever seen (including UCLA’s, Davis’s is just better - saunas, etc, love it). Kids bike everywhere, so buy a bike if you go there. I hear it is pretty good with parties (more parties than ucla/berkeley, but not as much as Santa Barbara, so a good balance). I also know that greek life is only 8% of kids there, so you can def have fun with people if you aren’t planning on joining a frat.

If cal or UCLA don’t give me as much money as davis, I’ll be going there!

I actually did go to UC Davis for summer camp when I was 15. I got to stay in the dorms for a week for a roller hockey camp. It was hot but I like it hot. Gimme a tan.

I honestly can’t wait for next year! I’ve been recently accepted to UC Davis and I love it there! I attended Picnic Day on Saturday, and honestly, that makes me want to forget waiting for UCSD and UCB to give out send out their acceptances and accept UCD already. Everyone is really friendly and the weather is awesome (although it may be a tad hot during the spring/summer and cold in the winter). I’ve been drinking 1.5 hours almost every other week to visit days and chill with my friends. I am going back on May 7th for Decision Day too!

i think davis is the bomb. i love the city (with the exception of the slaughter house… which you wont really notice unless you are in the ooollllldddd dorms at the end of campus). the city is perfect, it is what you would consider a “college town.” probably the safest UC also. in my opinion, the city of davis is the nicest overall over the other UC’s cities. as for the weather, it is usually the extreme. if it is raining in the bay area, it is pouring in davis. if it is sunny in the bay area, it is hottttttttttt in davis. davis is a soothing place, somewhere i would like to live from time to time.

more like UC GAYvis.

thanks

Davis is a great place, a “TRUE” environment for student who actually want to focux on school work. The campus and the Davis downtown city is extremely safe!! Last time I visit myfrd and we were walking on the street in downtown at 3AM for 2 weeks becux we need to park our car in downtown but he live in campus. However, nth happen to us and i just love the campus and then atmosphere even tho it is lito hot there, but arent you want to see hot girl with short jean? haha , this is my overall experience, great campus, great ppl, great envrionment to study!
