Is UCD a boring campus? How do SoCal people fit in at the campus?

I just moved to Albany, CA., because my wife goes to Berkeley and we reside at the University Village and I love Davis (great place). If you are thinking about going to U.C. Davis you will not be disappointed. I lived there for almost seven years and I immersed myself into the mix. It is the most educated(2nd most educated town in the United States),academic, athletic and environmentally aware town I have ever lived in. You can get around town on a bike and Davis is know for being the bike capitol of the U.S. It is NOT a college city it is one of the last few college towns in the United States. There is a huge concentration of triathletes out there and a lot of great places to eat. Davis is very, very, clean and very safe and whether you are older or younger, Davis maintains a very youthful spirit. In addition it is a very healthy town; very few smokers out there(very strict smoking laws), which is why the people are so good looking; especially the campus community. You can study and walk the streets at night with no worries. In addition, U.C. Davis has a ton of school pride. Everywhere you go in town is the U.C. Davis Aggie logo, but if you are looking for an L.A. vibe, Davis might not be the place for you because it is slow paced. Its all about education and staying fit in Davis. Its just 70 miles from San Francisco and only 11 miles from Downtown Sacramento. If you want to check out the nightlife in Sac-town, go to mid-city and Rick's Deserts is incredible. In Davis you have Guadalajara (awesome burritos), Crepeville (outstanding pesto sandwich), Ciccolat (fantastic deserts), Delta of Venus Cafe (like Jupiter's on Shattuck in Berkeley). The Recreation Hall at U.C. Davis is amazing and is from my opinion the best the U.C. has to offer. They even have saunas, whirlpool's and steam rooms there and they just built a brand new football stadium (with no tree people...hahaha). Now for the down fall. It is hot as hell in the summer but if you can live with that, then your going to love the place. I just signed my transfer agreement with U.C. Davis for the fall of 2008. I plan to take the campus shuttle at U.C. Berkeley to take my classes in Davis twice a week or Amtrak (stops in downtown Davis). However, if I get accepted to U.C. Berkeley I'm really going to be in a dilemma because the U.C. Berkeley campus is the most beautiful campus I've ever seen next to Cornell University in Ithaca, New York (my dream school). However, I'm a pretty conservative guy and love my core college town's, I'm just not a college city guy but there are things that I love about Berkeley and U.C. Davis. You really can't go wrong because they are sister schools. Good luck, and if you need anymore information about Davis please let me know. Go Ag's and Go Bears.

All my friends go to Davis. It's a quiet and peaceful town. Nice campus. I always wanted to go there, and I don't know why the heck I'm here at Cal.

cool, what worries me about the school is that i often here that it is socially dead. being from LA i am kinda used to parties and what not, however i am not exactly a party animal. i just hope peeps at ucd arnt complete squares =p i mean i plan on working hard towards attaining my degree but i want to have some fun on the side too.

Just remember whether you attend U.C. Davis or Berkeley you are going to have to work. They are both top notch research schools...very academic. Davis and Berkeley do not have the reputation for being party schools. Don't get be wrong Picnic Day at U.C. Davis is amazing. It is the biggest student run event in the nation and there are plenty of parties in and around campus. If you want to know more about Davis go to Daviswiki.org, that's a pretty cool site. However, if you are looking for a core party school I wouldn't recommend going to Davis or Berkeley. Maybe Chico State? There's a party school for you (hahahaha). It sounds like you may want to really think about coming up north. Have you thought about UCLA or USC? The reason why I say that is because it's probably going to be a huge culture shock for you coming to northern California. Northern and Southern California are worlds apart. Good Luck!

when does davis get back to people about transfer agreement decisions???????????

If you email the UCD rep that reviewed your agreement, then she/he should be able to tell you if it was approved yet.

how would i know which UCB rep reviewed it? i haven't gotten any information on who reviewed it.

most ccc have school (uc) reps assigned to that particular JC. it's usually listed on your ccc website under the transfer section. I was able to look up mine last year when I had an agreement w/ UCD. I emailed her and she let me know that it was approved. This year my husband goes to a completely different CCC and he looked up the rep on the list. He emailed her two weeks ago and she got right back to him to tell him that it was approved. You can also call the transfer center at your ccc and ask for the list of uc reps assigned to your school. Hope that helps.

thanks lovtoolearn
