<p>So there's a topic that's like "is there anything that you want to explain about your academic record/transcript" (well, not in those words exactly).</p>
<p>I haven't been doing very well in high school, mainly because I've been slacking off, so what is a good "excuse"? I do have health problems but other than that I'm a little stumped.</p>
<p>I'm in the same boat. And I probably should have taken harder classes, but up until this past summer, I didn't think I would have a shot at a UC</p>

<p>Well unless there is a bonafide reason for you slacking off ... you don't have anything to write. If you are interested in making up an "excuse" - when in fact you don't have one - I feel you are cheating yourself and the school and showing extremely low moral character.</p>
<p>Why would a school want someone that promises to try hard, when they have someone who has ALREADY shown them they can succeed?</p>
