UC essays - anyone like me and having trouble reaching 1000 words?

Or am I the only one. I've maxed out at 925...I can't seem to write anymore, I've said everything I've had to say.

I know they don't actually count, but do you think it will go against me if I left out space for 100 words?

i just found out that both essays have to be 1000 words combined.
my first essay was 1100 words,
now i'm trying to shorten it...

i think 900 is pefectly fine..

I doubt it.

At least I hope not. My essays are 899 words combined.

the second prompt shouldnt be shorter than 250.

cliff_hanger, don't worry about it at all. California doesn't even look at essays that hard, so it's unlikely even a bad essay would break your application.

You could even have a strong essay of 700-800 words.

Don't try to pad your essay. I usually find that if I apply an arbitrary limit below the current word count of something that I'm writing, I end up with cleaner, tighter writing and a better piece overall.

thanks guys! now i dont have to worry anymore.

i have 975 total.... yarrrrgh
