Hi guys, i was just wondering about the UC essays. I’ve been having a lotta debate with others what format they should be in. As in, do they HAVE to be 600-200-200? (Give or take a few words here and there of course). A friend of mine says that having a 500-280-220 essay would be just as good. Thoughts?

I would try to distribute the word count more evenly. :p 500 words just sounds too few. But, they don't have to be 600-200-200. I had approximately 629-215-198.

One thing about summiting it online, thought:

the total word count must be 1000 words or less. This is what I've been told.

Mine's 192-207-584.... Total 983... too short?

I wouldn't worry about a 17-word shortage.

I personally didn't go under because it may make you seem like an underachiever. I am sure you can find something meaningful to say; you just need to dig deep enough. Remember your personal statement is the only way to humanize yourself to the admissions committee. The personal statement should highlight your uniqueness.

Good luck
