***UC Irvine Class of 2019 Admissions Results/Stats Discussion***

@pmast25 I didn’t actually get accepted to UCLA, or given the actual Regents Scholarship. I was just among the top 1.5% of all UCLA applicants in terms of stats, I believe, so UCLA invited me to apply to the scholarship. As for the UCR Regents, I actually got the scholarship and am accepted. I will probably call them just to ask what part of my application made it not-good-enough. I was really looking forward to Regents/CHP at UCI.

Congrats on your UCI scholarship, though!

Haven’t received anything yet rejection or admission

Accepted to UCI and selected to CHP

Let’s just keep results here, so it can serve as a future resource for future applicants to UC Irvine. Best of luck to all UC Irvine applicants!

@IAmTheGOAT

Please be mindful that the college admission is just so very random.
Many factors can impact whether you get accepted or not.

How many (%s of applicants) were selected for Irvine Regents and CHP respectively?

Hi everyone I wasn’t accepted into CHP and I was really disappointed. Any reason why?
Major: Biomedical Engineering
GPA: 4.75W / 3.98 UW
SAT: 2150
ACT: 33
I spend quite some time revising my essays. I also think my EC’s are decent. (intern with UC Berkeley, 200 volunteer hours)

Who knows. My son wasn’t accepted yet (so obviously no Regents and no CHP). 2230 SAT, 3.95/4.51 GPA for Computer Game Science. No AP scores yet, though, but 26.5 college credits.

What was your class rank?

No class rank-dual enrolled private homeschooler. I know of other homeschoolers that get into UCs, but my son isn’t a top candidate like they were. Well, we’ll just have to wait and see.

I wasn’t accepted to UCI CHP either and I’m a bit surprised… I got the UCLA regents invite like @IAmTheGOAT.

When you say you weren’t accepted to UCI CHP - did you receive an email/message? I dont have any message yet. Or does it mean that you did not get UCI acceptance at all?

I think most of us mean we haven’t heard anything from UCI, so we assume no CHP since the notifications seem to have gone out last weekend/beginning of the week. Don’t know about admissions yet.

**Decision: Accepted to UC Irvine w/ CHP **

Objective:[ul]

Is UC Irvine’s CHP that prestigious? Would someone potentially go to UCI for its CHP instead of other schools like UCLA, UCSD, or UCB?

@rayyyyyy I’m not trying to brag, but in all honesty, I have better stats and ECs than my friends who got Irvine CHP. I think it might be because of my essays, or randomness factor, maybe that kept me from getting it?

Chance me?

Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: My high school has a REALLY good relationship with all the UCs

Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected:

Accepted: UPenn College of Arts and Sciences (likely), Wellesley, UC Irvine w/Regents

Deferred: Princeton SCEA but I’m so over it

Still waiting on a couple more Ivies, UC’s and privates!

@Ambitious19

You mentioned that UPenn is likely for you.
Did they give you some sort of hint or assurance?

“Accepted: UPenn College of Arts and Sciences (likely), Wellesley, UC Irvine w/Regents”

@SteventoCollege I received a likely letter from them the Thursday before President’s Week! This is from an article from the Daily Pennsylvanian, written on February 12, the day likely letters were sent out:

"Just under 200 applicants to the Class of 2019 will receive likely letters on Thursday, Dean of Admissions Eric Furda said. The letters will be sent in the form of an online message through applicants’ portals.

Likely letters, which are sent out prior to regular decision release in late March, inform applicants that they are “likely” to be admitted to Penn. Generally, likely letters mean that applicants will receive an acceptance.

The purpose of such communication is to ensure that Penn is at the forefront of outstanding students’ minds when considering their options later in the spring, Furda said."
