***UC Irvine Class of 2020 Admissions Results/Stats Discussion***

Where did you find out this information?

@chubii I can’t afford Penn!! That said, it’s amazing, so if there is a way to make it work that’d be rad hahaha

@kgiesch DDD: ohnoo… I think Penn offers good financial aid though! I’m sure you’ll do amazing anywhere

The IVY’s only offers aid if there is a strong need for it. However for those who qualify the financial aid is generous.

How do you know if they are releasing on 3/11?

Just called an admissions officer and they told me that decisions started coming out yesterday and now come out in batches on a rolling basis

@dannydevit0 rolling like, on a weekly basis?

Hopefully I can get accepted lol

UW GPA: 3.4
W GPA: 3.76
SAT: 1510

Applied for Biology major

Does anyone know how many people are admitted into CHP?

@kgiesch Lol I don’t know how you didn’t get in already with CHP if you got into UPenn. What are your stats?

I went through the previous years uci pages and things are not looking good.
The wait is killing me. I just want to receive the decision already.

I got in today!
4.11 UC GPA
3.78 UW 4.28 W
1830 SAT
710 W 610 R 510 M
11 Essay
Self studied 3 times for it.
Total AP’s 9/10 offered at my school for all 4 years of HS
Major: Urban Studies
From a small, new charter school
extracurriculars:
-Individually founded and led a peer-led math tutoring service at my school (4 years)
-Started a volunteer based club during sophomore year
-Organized and held annual resource fairs for the community around my high school
-Organized and held annual charity drives
Those are my biggest accomplishments.
I am a Chicana from a low-income neighborhood, school, and family.
I think I got accepted because of my background, commitments, and passion for being an agent of change for the marginalized communities like the one I grew up in. Despite adversity, I triumphed over the odds in comparison to many students from my community.
I am honored to be accepted, good luck to the rest of you, admissions are being rolled out here on out!

@brendalil How and when were you notified?

Re. the above post regarding UPenn: My son got into UPenn RD last year, and while he got into UCI, he did not get an offer for CHP from UCI. He also got into UCSD, but no honors offers, and was waitlisted by UCLA and Cal Poly SLO. Admissions are dependent on a lot of factors including choice of major.

For us, who are in that moderate income bracket, Penn is a whole lot cheaper than UCI since UCI gaps.

@dannydevit0 I got a package in the mail today!

@brendalil did you get accepted with CHP or regular decision? Did you check the portal?

Well ladies and gentlemen, I have officially finished reading ALL the admissions results discussion page from last year… what a ride… As I said before, they started releasing the decisions in waves the 17 with in-state acceptances, then OOS acceptances, then waitlists, and the 23 came the rejection wave, with some exceptions in every wave. Here is a statement from one of the users of last year: “Future graduating classes on College Confidential take note: when UCI Admissions say decisions are released randomly, they are not telling the truth. There has been a pattern for the past few years, and it is CHP>InState>OOS>Waitlists>Rejections>Mostly Rejections.” It was so interesting following all those users through the month, with the “don’t give up” speeches and so on. But in the end, the users I liked that were really amusing and positive, supporting each other and making jokes, they were all rejected the 23, “It’s like waiting to be executed, or being on Normandy” some of them said…
And to think that it is now our turn to go through that…
I just hope that instead we do get accepted…
I’m looking forward for the next month with you guys, and the users that will join this discussion later…
Good luck everyone…

@Sgt_Pato What you’re describing happened to us in the cal poly forum this month, and it sucked.

@Sgt_Pato do you know how long each “wave” is? I’m in state but probably not CHP.

Each wave lasted around 2 days, with the updates coming usually from 1200 to 1800. But that was just the general trend, there were still some rejections early on and acceptances later on, so if we don’t get a decision during the first waves we still have hope
