***UC Irvine Class of 2022 Applicants***

@ninehazard: Congratulations on the Davis acceptance. CS in general is very difficult at all UC’s and CS in the Engineering School in particular. If you were competitive for UCD, then you should be competitive for UCSD, UCI and UCLA, just realize that each UC is unique and will review applicants based on their own criteria. Sorry I cannot give you any more insight, so all I can do is wish you the best of luck.

@Gumbymom thank you so much for answering all my questions.even though my daughter’s stats were good she was rejected by Davis, now I have hope for UCI thank you again

I am really nervous rn. Do you guys think low GPA make it impossible to get into UCI? I got rejected from Davis and I am applying to Irvine and Santa Barbara. My UC GPA is 3.7 and 1300 SAT. I think my essay is kind of unique and applying to business administration. I know Business Administration’s average GPA is little over 4.
Do you guys think my stats too low to get into UCI? It’s been my dream school and I am an international student from Korea.

Do we have any predictions for when decisions will be released?

@UCIfirstchoice I think the UCs look at (and correct me if I’m wrong) California students first (both HS and CC) and save int students last. In my opinion, I believe they look really harshly among international students and want somewhat good stats. I would want to say that you have a decent chance, but just only the fact that you’re an int student May or May not make your admission gain harder. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your honest opinion! All I can do is praying now haha
Thank you

where’s some good places to surf near uc irvine? hoping I can get in to study hard and enjoy the various ocean breaks

Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, maybe even Dana Point.

@wavybro123 There are so many good breaks nearby. My personal favorites are The Wedge (Newport Beach), Trestles (San Clemente), and Huntington Beach. All are around 10-15 minutes from UCI. Laguna Beach and Dana Point are also some great options. UCI isn’t too far from San Diego or even horribly far from Mexico. If you wanted to go North and make an entire day out of it you could hit up Malibu, Santa Monica, or Santa Barbara.

@ugradbiz thx for the info, lower trestles always has that one angry dad that ur getting “too close to their kid” haha. Is Corona del mar any good at all?

@wavybro123 Haha! It is a fairly good spot but all my friends and I prefer The Wedge. I live very close to Seal Beach and Huntington Beach so I go there the most, but if I want to mix it up, I go to The Wedge or Malibu. Are you from California or OOS? I have been born and raised in SoCal and I am very lucky to have gone surfing on the East Coast and in Europe (the Outer Banks in North Carolina and Scheveningen in the Netherlands), but I must say that I like SoCal surfing the best. Do you shortboard or longboard? I know some people prefer certain beaches out here based on what type of board you ride, but I honestly believe it doesn’t really matter. UCI is close to some pretty good spots and you can’t really go wrong with any of them!

@ugradbiz I’m from San diego and I shortboard. Have surfed Pipeline and spots in oahu a lot but nowhere as cool as the netherlands! are you a uci student and if so do you guys have a surf team?

@wavybro123 Oh sweet! I shortboard too. Dude that’s so cool - I’ve always wanted to surf in Hawaii! It’s definitely on my bucket list. Ok so you know the good spots down South then haha. I am actually a high school senior and am awaiting a decision from UCI too. I know I looked before to see if UCI had a surf team but I think I saw that they only had a surf club. If not, that’s something you could start and I’m sure it would be insanely popular (I’m sure jobs would love to see that initiative ahah)! I actually got accepted to UC Berkeley as a Regents Candidate, but surfing up there will be difficult!

@ugradbiz fyi when they say Surf Club that very well may be a competitive and recreational team. If it is not an NCAA sport then it is a club sport. My daughter does archery for UCI and it is a club sport but they travel to national competitions.

I’m a student from Pennsylvania who desperately want to attend a College in Cali. I recently received an email from UC application center saying they will waive my Out of State tuition because My mom is in the Army. (GI Bill Chapter 30) But I did not get into Davis and Irvine is the only other school I applied to. So my question to you guys is: is there anything I can do to attend a Cali School after I don’t get into Irvine? I would even consider attending a Community College but I want to know if I can appeal to other UC schools such as Santa Cruz or Riverside. (Ik that just sounds stupid and probably impossible but I really don’t know how anything works so I’m just asking) My UC GPA is a 3.8 and 1440 SAT, in case you guys are wondering. Oh and the results are likely to come out this Friday right?

Do we have any ideas when Irvine results will be released?

@collegedreamer167 I believe they are coming out this thursday or friday (don’t count on my word), but it would only make sense.

Last year they came out on the 14th, which was a tuesday.

@orionary why would it make sense for it to come out this week? I thought it was going to release next week
