UC Irvine TAG Course Requirements Not Offered

Hello,

I am currently a CCC student planning to transfer for the Fall 2018 semester. I am applying to UCSD Bioengineering and UCI biomedical engineering. For my Spring 2018 CCC semester I’ve enrolled, but been waitlisted in, 2 classes: the second of a 2 course sequence of biology, and the third of a three course sequence of calculus based physics. For UCSD this biology course is a required course for transfer, and for UCI the physics course is a required course for transfer. I applied to UCI with the TAG, planning to take the third physics class in Spring 2018.

If I’ve enrolled in both of these classes, show up while on the waitlist, but don’t get off of the waitlist; will my admission not be considered? I’m asking because if I don’t get into the course then it was impossible for me to have taken them, as they filled before I even had an enrollment date. Will UCSD or UCI reject me (I have a 4.0 overall and major GPA, by the way) because of missing one required course that I tried, but couldn’t take?

Thank you.

That’s a tough one. Depends on how strict they are. It’s worth contacting them about this too. Maybe consider other close by colleges that have the classes available.

Contact the schools and also do what you can to get off the waitlist.

From what I hear UCSD is a bit more loosey-goosey regarding requirements, but of course it’s up to them. The bigger issue is your TAG. Since the course is required and is also offered in spring you might have a harder time convincing them not to rescind your TAG. If it were me, I’d try to find that class anywhere and get into it to guarantee my TAG. Or get off that waitlist, as above poster said.
