UC Language (other than English) Requirement & Lab Sciences?

My daughter has taken Spanish 1 & Spanish 2 through regular high school. She is not able to take Spanish 3 though her public high school independent school program in which she is now enrolled.

She would like to take another year of Spanish at the college level and has found a college offering a Spanish class on-line but she is a little concerned about jumping right into a college level Spanish 3 course.

If she takes a college level course entitled SPAN 111 FIRST-YEAR SPANISH, will this count as a 3rd year of language as “recommended” by the a-g requirements?

With regard to Lab Sciences, she took Earth Science with Lab, and Biology with Lab. Her program does not offer her any other additional “lab” science courses. UC requirements lists “Biology, Chemistry & Physics”…of which she will only have one since no others are offered. We have looked and have been unable to find any on-line lab courses approved for UC purposes. (All CC’s are too far from where we live) She can take other science courses but not with a lab. How will not having a Chemistry or Physics lab course look when it comes time to apply for admissions to a UC a school? Will lacking this one requirement negate her admission if all other requirements are met?

Thanks

Oh come on…so many views…and no one has an answer? Any suggestions on how I can contact someone who might know? Is there a general admissions contact for the UC’s? I haven’t been able to find on on any webiste ;(

Why not take the SAT Spanish test? If she’s good at it and get a good score, she will be exempted from the requirements.

For more information, contact the admission office of the college of your (daughter) choice.

I don’t th9nk she is at the AP level as of yet…only took Spanish 1 & 2
