UC Lower Division Transfer help please

In my senior year in high shcool I got into UCR, UC Merced, and other CSUs.
But I decided to go to CCC so I could transfer to 'better' schools.
Now I am almost done with my first semester of community college and I really regret not going to any of the four year colleges i got into.
All of my friends went to colleges out of town so I have like no friends and no social life and feel miserable all the time, and it is really hard to make friends at community college.
So I was wondering if i could transfer as a lower division transfer student next fall?

I wanted to go to UCSB or UCD, but i heard UCSB doesn't accept lower division transfer, is that true? if it is true, which UCs and CSUs accept lower division transfers?
In my senior year I applied as an engineering major (maybe that's why I didn't get into UCD, UCSB in the first place), should i still apply as engineering major in lower division transfer? or should i apply as other major and change it after i get accepted? Can lower division transfer students change their major?

I had 3.9 in high school, and took two general ed classes during summer and got A in both of those classes. Now i am taking 5 classes with calc I, and i think i am pretty sure im gonna get As in all five classes. Do you think i have chance to get in as lower division transfer? I heard it's really hard....:(

please help!

Your only choice would be to apply to Riverside, at least as far as you UCs go. See <a href=“University of California Counselors”>http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/transfer-admission-matrix.pdf</a>

you can look up on the web the rules for the CSU schools.

My guess is you are going to the cc near where you live. There is no rule that prevents you from going to any cc you want if you stay at at a CC until you are a junior… Some are in more student oriented areas. For example many of the kids at SBCC live in Isla vista right among the UC Santa Barbara students. If you look I bet you could find other similar communities.

Some UC schools to not allow transfer students to change into an engineering major if they were not accepted as an engineer. If you decide to wait until you’re a junior to apply to the UC’s you might want to check the rules at each campus before you select your major.

BTW I wrote a thread a while back with suggestions for kids thinking of attending SBCC. See http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-santa-barbara/468098-backdoor-way-get-into-ucsb.html</a></p>

You could do this, or something similar at any residential college (Davis, UCSC, Cal Poly SLO, etc)
