Lower Division Transfer.. anyone out there?

Is anyone attempting to lower division transfer (that is, transfer as a sophmore)? Or does anyone know of anyone who is or has? I'm very concerned at whether I even have the slightest chance. (This is for UCSC --> UCD by the way)

I thought they only consider Junior transfers?

Hello,

I can answer this question more clearly as I was a student at the school you wanted to go. UCD does indeed take lower division transfer; however, UCs to UCs are harder for priority admissions. The first always priority is the CA community colleges, then the UCs, then CSUs, and the colleges from elsewhere. Because community college composes more 90% of all admissions rate, a transfer from UCSC to UCD is very slim. It also depends on also your GPA. Some questions when UCD will ask you is that have you ever been on academic probation at the UC? Are you on bad standing? If this the case, you are not permitted to transfer at all and a leave from UCSC will result you never ever going back to UCSC or any UC for that matter. Lower division transfers within the UC takes even latter priority before UC students who has completed 90 quarter units. You would be most likely considered 4th or even 6th for admission priority bringing you to last level of review. There are applicants who have done more work than you that makes them more competitive. Hope this helps. Good luck for UCD.

if everything goes well I should have a 4.0 (A's in the 3 classes I'm taking now and 3 A's in classes I took at CCC). I got three 4's on AP tests (one 2 from soph. year)..and that's pretty much all the app asks.

I also have a pretty legitimate reason, that being my school doesn't offer IR

Thank you for your response..I guess I might as well try anyway

Check the University of California main site and look at what colleges and majors are open at UC Davis for soph transfer. Not all colleges/majors are open to soph transfer.

thank you, but I'm aware that UCD is accepting lower-division transfers (In agricultural /enviornmental sciences -- undeclared) I was simply wondering if there was anyone out there who is doing the same thing or knows someone who was accepted.. it seems like I don't even have a chance, I need some hope!
