UC Math Requirement

Hey All,

I recently was accepted to UC Riverside as a transfer student for the fall 2012 quarter. This past spring semester, I was enrolled in a Calc II class at my Community College for my math requirement to transfer, but my professor was fired midway through the semester and it is too late to join any other classes. I have not taken any other math classes and I was wondering if UC Riverside would rescind my application. Also, would they allow me to take the class during the summer? Any advice/tips would be extremely helpful.

I have 60+ units and have completed/or will complete all my pre-reqs by the end of the Spring 2012 term.

Thanks in advance!

Why can’t you use calc 1? I assume you took ap calc1 in high school. Did they make all the students who were in your class drop? I have never heard of something like that happening before. What did the Professor do to get fired?

Surely if you paid for and enrolled in the course your CC has to find away to accommodate those of you that were in that professor’s class?

Some of the CCs cancelled classes and laid off instructors midway through the term due to surprise budget cuts.

holy **** that’s a pain in the ass 0.0 and unfair. wouldn’t that go against some certain teacher’s union deal of some sort? well anyways. email admissions and tell them. it’s not your fault you can’t finish the class that you started.

I did take AP Calc 1 in high school. But I received a 2 on the AP test. That would not count as credit towards college would it? I thought you needed a 3.
There was some issue involving the professor and a student…
We were just given a full refund. That’s all

That’s what I did but I have not heard back yet. I was just wondering if this some sort of event would cause my admission to be rescinded despite the fact that it was not my fault.

Im pretty sure UCR lets students finish pre reqs in the summer, especially in a situation like this. If you explain yourself there’s no way they can ethically rescind you.

I really hope so. Thanks everyone!

^ wow, that sucks. the CC really messed up not providing for a substitute to complete that course. CC’s are great, but a lot of attendance and success is surviving the CC’s incompetency. my teachers are great at our CC but the administration is a disaster. sorry you have had the extra stress. so many people need jobs i find it absurd that they could not replace the teacher. good luck dude.
