How does it work? Do I need to do anything?

Yeah just go to your school's academic advising office or whatever and give them a letter saying that you are requesting UC reciprocity to so-and-so schools and you would like them to contact those schools regarding your successful completion of the lower division requirements. That should do it.

When do we need to do this by?

I might need to take one more ethnic studies course over the summer to meet the GEs (stupid UCSD), is this a problem?

I'm from Davis, I didn't meet the reciprocity for UCLA, but I still got in for Biz Econ, but I was rejected from Berk. If you have good stats (and finish whichever prereqs), I don't think it should be a problem

well, i am an engineering major, I think they care less about GE's for us, but I want to complete it to save myself the trouble later...

UCSD has very confusing GE's, especially with rules regarding double dipping or whatever, and it seems like I am short of one ethnic studies course (even though our core sequence for a whole year is about the exact same frigging thing).

whats double dipping?

I think double dipping refers to taking a certain class and having it count towards two or more GE requirements. I know at UCSB you can't do this for the most part, although for the ethnicity and European traditions requirements I think you can.

oh icic.. and we have to walk up to our academic advising office or whatever WITH OUR request letter for the reciprocity thing? they dont GIVE ME a form to fill out??

No, I think you have to type up a short letter yourself. That's what I've been told, but all the admissions people at my school are very vague and not always the most helpful.

How come didn't I hear anything about UC reciprocity? Where did you guys find it out? Is that a requirement in our provisional contract?

No, first of all it's only for UC to UC transfers and no it is not mandatory, but there was a place on the application to check if you were planning on completing all lower division requirements (all GEs) at your current UC. If you didn't say you were going to complete it on the application then you don't have to worry about anything.
