I heard that if you get 1 or 2 c's during senior year, you might get rescinded, but this applies to the people who had good grades during sophomore/senior year b/c it shows that they slacked off during senior year. Is this true? B/c some of my friends told me their friends got rescinded from UC'S because they got a C because they're normally a straight A student. I didn't get a C last semester in first semester senior year, but i did get a lot of B's...but 2nd semester, I have a feeling I will have a C either in ap calc or ap physics. Will I get rescinded b/c of this? B/c i have a feeling that the uc colleges will look at my junior grades and notice i slacked off....

You cannot be rescinded for receiving C grades only, only if your WEIGHTED Senior year GPA falls below a 3.0 can you be rescinded. Also you can be rescinded for D and F grades though. Did your friends’ GPAs fall below 3.0?

B/c your post is a run-on, you will get rescinded. B/c UCs don’t like people who write in run-ons. B/c that shows that you slacked off on your english skills during your senior year. B/c the language you speak is far more important than the grades that you get.

just kidding haha, all trolling aside, I think the policy for UCB and UCLA is that you need a 3.0 unweighted (regardless of each individual grade). The rest of the UCs look for a 3.0 weighted. Don’t let your GPA dip below that and you’ll be fine. :)

EDIT: I agree with the above poster. Absolutely NO Fs or Ds are allowed AT ALL. period.

lol panther…thanks xD

C is def. fine, my older brother who got in UCLA few years ago had a 2.3 unweighted GPA (major senioritis )for his second semester in senior year and he didn’t get rescinded. Maybe his weighted GPA is higher than 3.0 tho, he had 4 APs.

The UCI contract states -
Maintain at least a weighted 3.0 senior-year GPA in UC-approved courses. The following situations may result in the withdrawal of your admission offer:
a) multiple D or F grades in your senior year A-G courses

Does that mean a single ‘D’ in Senior fall semester is NOT a threat?

getting a D will not be a threat as long as you tell the admissions office that you will be getting a D. If you don’t tell them and they find out when your transcripts get sent to them, they could rescind you. If you do have a D in a class try getting atleast a C. The number of C’s you have don’t really matter as long as you have atleast a weighted 3.0 GPA. I got 4 C’s during my senior year and I didnt get rescinded. haha

Yeah, multiple D’s is the thing that screws you over. One D, and you have to report it/say why you got a D or w/e. Two, and that causes you to get automatically rescinded unless you have a really good excuse. As for the GPA, yeah, just keep it 3.0 or higher, and you should be good. Just don’t slack off, eh?

What if the d’s aren’t in core classes ?

And I still have a 3.0

C’s are fine but a D can definitely get you rescinded. I know someone this happened to last year. He appealed but no luck and had to attend CC.

Doesn’t matter, D’s are bad in general.

From UCLA FAQ website-
Q: I RECEIVED A D GRADE IN THE FALL SEMESTER … OR…
I AM THINKING OF DROPPING A CLASS….
A: If the course schedule you gave us on your application changes, if you receive any grade lower than C, or if your senior year unweighted GPA drops below 3.0, you should notify us right away. We will review these changes in the context of your overall record and let you know whether they affect your admission. You may be required to take additional classes in the summer, or in some cases, your offer of admission can be withdrawn. Generally, the sooner you let us know of changes, the more options you will have.
