UC Riverside Guaranteed Acceptance EMAIL?

I received an email today from UC Riverside stating I am guaranteed acceptance because I am in the top 4% of my coming high school graduating 2009 class.

the ucr email i got is from "admit@ucr.edu"

The Email says, "we're impressed with your academic record, you're in the top 4% of your class and you're exactly the kind of student we want at UCR , so we're GUARANTEEING your admission to UCR! Congratulations!!!!"

"You know much sooner than other students that you've been admitted to one of the best UCs in California. . ."

It also provides a link to create a "My UCR" account.

Is this legit?

I'm just being cautious since this is in the form on an email.

I'd say it's legit. The ELC top 4% thing is something the UC system does.

im pretty sure it is
i got the same offer
but i got a postcard a while back

I didn't apply to UCR, but you should check with other people at your school, if they received the e-mail and check with your counselor.

I think it's legit because UCR is one of the easier campuses to get in next to Merced.

I applied to UCs also, but I applied to UCLA, UC Berkeley, UCI, UCSD, and UC Davis.

I'm in ELC. Are you in it?

I received a post card a long time ago, never got an email. So two things seem wrong with this: the time it came, and the way it came.

While this may be legit, I think it's just Riverside trying to entice you early on. You don't know whether you're an ELC student until September of your senior year (they release your transcript info at the end of your junior year, when you have to sign a release form).
