UC Riverside or SDSU?

Hello all,

I am having trouble deciding which college to go to, and I am quite torn between UCR and SDSU. I currently live in Riverside and have visited UCR’s campus on multiple occasions as well as attended their business program orientations. I am planning to go to SDSU’s open house on the 23rd of March to check out their campus. I am mainly drawn to SDSU because of the additional bonus of the enjoyable social aspect that a lot of others seem to talk about, and I really love the San Diego area, since I visit often. I intend to major in Pre-Business Administration Marketing, and I am aware that BOTH UCR and SDSU have spectacular business programs. I have heard that SDSU has more prestige for business-related degrees, but I want to make sure that the information I am hearing is true. Can someone help me decide which one would be the better choice? Experts like @Gumbymom , please help! Thank you!

Consider the requirements and grades/GPA needed to go from pre-business to business at each school:

a few years back I knew someone who was going to SDSU for business. I told him to be sure to get internships while in school. He did, and out of his fraternity he was the only one who had a job lined up before graduation.

Both are very good options and both are highly respected for Business but check out the links that @ucbalumnus posted in regards to declaring your Business major at each campus.

You need to figure out your “fit’ based on finances, social scene and academics. Are you planning on commuting to UCR if you attend? Make sure you compare housing costs for SDSU (2 years required on-campus) and UCR. Off-campus housing is much pricier than the Riverside area.

Make sure you have access to internships/job opportunities and check out each schools career center.

Definitely spend time with SDSU students and ask about their perspective about campus life, likes and dislikes etc…
