How is it the best choice? Why not Berkeley or LA
Still nothing
@Countchocula25 Berkeley was my first choice and I’ll probably get accepted as well but it’s too expensive in terms of cost of living. And I think I can still get the jobs I want through UCR.
@cosgirl yeah, that was my logic on it as well. That and I actually like the campus. I can actually afford to live on my own with my so. Every other a school, even sdsu near which I a am local, would be too expensive.
Are you guys planning to live off campus or on? Because if you plan to live off campus that’s not advisable. From personal experience actually living at UCR, riverside is one of the nastiest and scariest places I’ve been too. Especially at nighttime.
@Countchocula25 meh, I have lived in crappier areas than Riverside. What sort of areas did you live in before coming to ucr? Also, what year did you live at ucr?
I’m from Irvine. Most of my life was Irvine. And other surrounding areas in Orange County. And I lived at UCR for all of 2014. But just from living there, there were constant alerts about an armed robber and such. I remember while standing outside the apartment (on campus apartments mind you), cops were all in it running around cuz there was someone going around breaking into people’s houses.
Another kid got robbed at gunpoint and had his wallet stolen. Then some other kid , from UCR LOL, committed an armed robbery at a drug store.
@Countchocula25 ah, I have lived in a few cities considered kind of ‘shady’ including Houston and a suburb of San Diego, Lemon Grove, which is known for being very shady at times. I watched a guy in a truck get attacked by 3 guys who busted his windows in at ataco shop, for example.
Hey I lived in Houston too! Last year. I moved to Houston and actually enrolled at the university of Houston. But decided to come back because California education is superior. And Houston I wouldn’t say is kinda shady. Houston is down right just JDKDOENPABGKWL
@Countchocula25 looool JDKDOENPABGKWL is right. I spent half my life in Texas and education is… Interesting, there. Nit to mention that every just seem really angry about living in Houston all the time.
I feel you on being angry about it. I moved out there for my mom. She lived in Katy. I didnt want to go but had to cuz she supports me. Kind of sucked but oh well. We’re both here now and getting a better education. So yeah if you want to compare UCR to Texas, then by all means go there. I’d take UCR over any other university in the country. But not over other UCs
@Countchocula25 o honestly really like ucr and the areas I saw around it. To me, it’s even a bit better than lemon Grove where I live now, which is kind of hilarious. I can’t really afford the other ucs,even if I got generous financial aid, I would be struggling to support myself due to incidental costs. My Parents aren’t helping out financially, so it’s about where I can go that will give me the most money. And ucr was amazingly generous,like 80 percent of tuition and costs.
@umberial did u get your financial aid package already?
@cosgirl Yeah I did.
where did u find out about it?
@cosgirl I got an email on r’mail and also just kept checking growl and it eventually updated with a aid package.
Thanks for the info @umberial
