I apperciate your time to help me and I hope you answer can help me.

Hello ScottieBoy,

I have calculated your UC GPA based on what you have given me and I came up with a 3.0. Since I don’t know what High School you attend, I couldn’t look at your a-g course list so it may vary slightly. In order to be eligible for the UC system with a 3.0 gpa, you would have to obtain a 223 UC score. You can calculate your UC score by visiting http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/freshman/scholarship_reqs.html</a>. Your UC score is based on your test scores (SAT reasoning or ACT plus writing and SAT subject test). Once you have obtained your official test scores you can see were you fall on that index. As far as your likelihood of getting into a UC, it all depends. The UC system looks at a number of factors when admitting students such as grades, test scores, how challenging a students HS course work is, extracurricular activity and so on. In a nut shell, what we are looking for is well rounded students that not only have good grades and challenging courses but also students who have been involved in activities outside of the classroom. I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

For any UC you must retake any A-G course (th major cademic ones) where you got less than a C to even be consdered. You can do this at summer or night school.

hmom: isn’t retaking only for required a-g courses? For example, since Alg II is required for admission, it must be passed with a C or better. But, precalc is just an elective (and not required for admission), so a retake may not be mandatory for admission. In any event, the OP did retake in the summer.

But, more importantly, if the OP meets the minimum eligiblity requirments. s/he will be guaranteed admittance to a UC, but it may be only Merced, and most likely Riverside. Thus, the “number of factors when admitting students such as grades, test scores, how challenging a students HS course work is, extracurricular activity and so on.” are not required. Meeting the minimum eligibility (during normal budget years) is a guarantee to UC admission (sry, IloveUCR).
