UC Rumors.....Would Current Students Clear Them Up

I’m trying to decide which ones to apply to so maybe if you guys clear up the rumors I can decide which schools fit me.

UCB - The best academics, Ugly people, Ugly campus, City is dirty and too many bums, Too liberal and too many protests.
UCLA - The best overall school in the system. Offers everything a college students would want/need.
UCSD - Ugly people everywhere, Sucky sports, Boring, Commuter school.
UCI - 100% Asian, Nerds, Boring, Commuter school, Cold feeling about the school.
UCSB - The best school in the UC system, Crazy parties and hot students.
UCD - Cows, Smells, Boring little town with nothing to do, Ugly campus on a farm.
UCSC - Hippies, Liberals, Drugs, and Sucky Sports is everything the school has to offer.
UCR/UCM - You only go here if you are rejected from every where else and don’t want to go to community college.

I obviously know some of these are false, but would anyone who knows a lot about the schools are goes to one would like the clear up the rumors…go at it!

Thanks

Where do you live? I will be attending UCD and I can attest that it is a gorgeous and clean campus. I have also been to UCSB, and while the natural location is beautiful the campus is quite ugly. The students live in Isla Vista a very dirty place. There are cows in a remote area on the outskirts of UCD's campus for the vet school which is the #1 ranked in the country. You will not see the cows unless you trek to that part of UCD. It is the best overall college town of any UC. There are tons of fun things to do. (I have been there many times) UCD has great sports and the Aggie pack one of the biggest student-led sports boosters programs in the nation. All game are 100% free to students. If football is important to you the only UC's that have it are UCD, UCB and UCLA. UCD has one of the largest intramural programs in the country, one of the largest internship programs in the country and a brand new athletic facility for students that is one of the best in the UC system. There are 26 D1 sports at UCD (the most of any UC) The sorority/fraternity scene is hopping with great parties. The campus is in a cool, hip town and is not a farm (LMAO) You definately need to visit the UC schools to get a better idea of what they are like. By the way, I have seen all but UCR and UCM.

UCB to me is exactly as described...

UCLA is a very good school, many students love it.

UCSD may have ugly people, but there's plenty of hot latinas in the SD area. The school is definately academic, not fun. But again, SD the city is fun.

UCI is very asian but it is somewhat newer and it's got great buildings. It's a good school.

UCSB is great. It is good for people that like the beach and parties. Good soccer team. Good academics.

UCD is my school. There's cows but it doesn't stink on campus. It's not boring at all and the campus is very beautiful.

And I don't know about the other 3 but UCM is probably not a good one to go to. It's too new.

I'm currently attending UCI, so I'll speak about the school.

-It is not 100% asian. You will find diversity in races at this school and in your dorms. However, the school is 60% asian so yes there are a hell of a lot of us.

-The nerd population seems to be overspoken. The majority of people here that I have encountered are very outgoing. You're not going to find hundreds of people locked in their dorms studying. My residence hall is the academic residence hall and even we don't have latch-key people.

-Yes, UCI is a commuter school. However, that does not mean the school is empty on the weekends. There are plenty of students living in the residence halls that do not go home for the weekend. We even have a facebook group of these people.

-There is no cold feeling about the school. I've never even heard of that. If anything, there's a safe feeling about the school. The city of Irvine is the 10th safest city in the nation. I walk around at night all the time and I never feel any danger.

The cold feeling about the school isn't about safety. It's like UCI......Ooph (Just nasty and why would anyone want to be there)

UCB - The best academics

More or less.

Ugly people
For the most part. You have to look around awhile to find attractive people, but they're definitely here. Join some student groups and your perception would improve somewhat.

Ugly campus

I think the campus is SPECTACULAR.

City is dirty and too many bums
That's relative; I find Berkeley very exciting because it's so active, and I rarely see bums outside of People's Park. "Too many," again, is very relative. Some people may find this city  if they are easily offended...

Too liberal and too many protests.
Again, very relative. "Too liberal" depends on the political perceptions of each individual (it's not too terrible IMO), and I've seen very few and very small protests so far (a few people every now and then protest the existence of Israeli oppression and whatnot). Then again, it's approaching November...

My house is two miles from the campus, and that is the general perception I get from students, although not everyone is ugly...

Wow, all-or-nothing thinking. The world is not so black and white.

What does that even mean? Let's ask UCLAri if it's true.

UCSB - The best school in the UC system, Crazy parties and hot students.

How can both be best?

There's so much more to each and every school you mention. For instance, UCSC is supposed to be beautiful. UCR has so many more resources than UCM.

^^^ UCLA is the best school overall school like sports, academics, school spirit, choices....just in almost everything.

But to me UCSB is the best.....I should have been a little more specific.

dude you ever been in isla vista on a saturday morning?

No.....is it trashed?

so bad dude, garbage and other disgusting stuff everywhere... remember that is where you live for four years. some of it is due to the sbcc kids but it is bad. i originally wanted to go there until i visited two times. i changed my mind because i thought it would get old really fast. do you have any friends there? if you do i suggest you go and stay for a few days. if i were you i'd visit ucla, and ucd as well if you know someone there.

I'm only a junior, but I don't want to end up at some **** school, so I've started my college search early.

I have been to UCSB during the day and I loved the school. I plan on applying to UCLA too, but I will probably get rejected unless I do bomb this year. I'm thinking about UCD as another option, but it just sounds nasty.....but I'll be sure to visit it before I apply.

i'm going to ucd and it is awesome. dude you listen to too many idiots from so cal who have never even been to davis. is is the most chill uc. fun, with a great mix of academics, sports, parties, and activities. you really need to visit. stay for a weekend and hit up a game and go to some parties. you will love it. the people are way less pretentious than the ucsb crowd.

[UCD] is the most chill uc.
HAHAHA!

Do me a favor and go to UC Santa Cruz sometime, then you will know a chill campus when you see it.

That and your alias is painfully ironic.

Strykur dude you need a beer. UCD is known for being a very chill campus. Stop shouting on here, lol.

Oh and I have been to UCSC, unconventional maybe but not especially chill.

How would you guys rank the UC's party scenes......From Crazy to Sucks

Does this sound good?

UCSB

UCSC

UCLA

UCD

UCB

UCI

UCSD

UCR

UCM

Not bad. UCSC definitely move down...probably in between UCI and UCSD.

Move UCB above UCD and that should be about right.

My friends at UCM are partying hard...

I have visited all the UC's except UCM and UCR.

UCSB (beach school with major party scene, pretty much any day of the week thanks to the SBCC kids. Frats, soroities and sports are not a factor.)

UCLA, UCB, UCD and Cal Poly SLO (all sports oriented with tail gate parties along with pre-game dorm and apartment parties. Heavy frat/sorotity scene as well. UCLA, and UCB are urban while UCD and SLO are true college towns. Great music scenes at UCB, UCLA and UCD as all are close to strong venues. Club and bar scenes nearby all four as well.

UCSC (Whats that I smell?)
7.. UCI (commuter campus leaves it somewhat dead on the weekends. Parties can be found off campus or a ways away at the beach. You need a car or a friend with a car. A few clubs too, but once again you need a car. Most parties are off campus though low-key dorm parties do happen.)

UCSD (what can I say? There are parties, but almost entirely off campus. Low-key dorm parties do happen. Anti drinking enforcment on the campus is a big factor.)

UCR

UCM

Uh....UCD and SLO are not in the same league with regards to sports and related sports acitivities as UCB and UCLA.
