UC San Diego Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

hopefully. but there are a lot of other factors that will be in play such as money and increase in applicants

@Magichour1814 Awesome! I also got into UCSB! In regards to the UCSD college, I think I chose Muir. I honestly don’t remember the names too well so I have to check to make sure.

@odabach Congrats on SB!!! Hopefully we both will get into SD. Love that school so much!

Result: Pending
Major: Political Science (alt. major varies-- but do those matter?)
GPA: 3.6 (4.0 for major related)
IGETC: Completed this Spring
Pre-requisites: 1 class remaining
Applied: CSUF, SDSU, UCI, UCSD, UCB, UCLA
Accepted: CSUF
Rejected: -
Pending: SDSU, UCI, UCSD, UCB, UCLA

UCD, UCSD, UCLA the same day last year.

If memory serves, April 18, around 10 am Davis, 1 pm-ish SD and around 4PM UCLA (it came out about an hour earlier than listed).

It was a major day, needless to say.

Re SD, it was a disastrous roll-out, a few very early on, I mean really early, then essentially nothing. NOTHING. The end date was adjusted. Anyway, I do remember all three in the same day.

@lindyk8‌ what about for non - articulated courses at a CCC?

Edit: this is in response to your post about prereqs in the ucsb thread, sorry.

@lindyk8 hey i was just curious, i’ve noticed that you have been around on this site for a long time since 2012. I’ve also noticed you’re always helping ppl alot concerning UC admissions, deadlines, etc. You’ve really been a big help to many students.

But i’m just curious…what keeps you coming back? Like do you have a son or daughter that attends a UC? Or are you going to a UC? Are you a counselor? was just wondering is all.

keep up the great work, this forum could use more great knowledgable members such as Cayton and yourself!

@sliceoflife24‌

I already took Business Calculus.

Does this mean I don’t have to take Calculus 2 right now?

Cause I’m passing Calculus 2 with barely a B- right now I’d rather not have it mess up my GPA… Lol

@kyle2015, no problem. I help students out around my area, so I come up here a lot to learn things.

But even though I signed up in 2012, I never really started coming up until a year ago.

RE: @cayton, he’s the king here, but doesn’t have much time anymore, which is really too bad (but understandable).

And in about a year I’ll have another kid going through the system…

@luckie1367, could you elaborate? :smile:

Sure @lindyk8? To what are you referring?

sorry @luckie1367, I meant your dopleganger, @lucky2012.

@lindyk8 thats great! I’m glad that your kids are high achieving and succeeding in regards to the UC system!
Their futures will be bright as long as they stay confident and continue working hard.

haha, no problem!

@kyle2105, thanks. One of the things that got me started in this, were the troubles my own older daughter had getting the right advice at her CCC. As a former journalist, who loves research, one thing led to another and I started helping kids for free at her CCC. I really hate seeing students get shut out because of some minor mistake that could have been avoided. It’s been, and continues to be, a learning process for me. But the last year I have literally spent hundreds of hours on this, and it’s getting better day by day. I thoroughly enjoy it. I honestly was so stoked seeing how excited everyone was on the Riverside and Santa Cruz threads the last couple of days when they got their acceptances. There’s nothing better! And having been through the gut-wrenching process last year, I really feel for those who don’t quite make the cut. It’s a major emotional upheaval.

We appreciate it @lindyk8 !!

@lindyk8 totally couldn’t have worded it better myself. The UC admissions process is a definite nail bitter that can cause many side effects such as depression, anxiety, and major confusion. I’m glad that you enjoy helping students make it to the next level within their academic endeavors. I too wish to maybe become a counselor that helps out students, seeing as how i also love to see ppl succeed in strong areas of life. Bottom line…i just love helping ppl from all ages, backgrounds, and locations! Maybe thats why i’ve considered having a career as a psychiatrist in order to help adults, teens, and children haha.

Thanks @luckie1367. Same to you. You are a wealth of knowledge, truly.

As I’m sure you know, God is in the details, and the further down you go in the rabbit hole the more weird anomalies there are. It’s nowhere near as straight-forward as it appears when you go to the UC admissions page: “Hey, transfers, here are the 5 things you need to do to successfully transfer to a UC!”
Parts of it are downright confusing as hell. I’m still struggling with math validation, lol.

@lindyk8‌ I was wondering where applicants who have prereqs, but are not articulated at the CCCs (no equivalent) in there area, stand. Is it approached differently by admissions than, for example, an applicant who simply chooses not to take a prereq that is available and offered by a CCC local to them?
