The Engineering program is the hardest one to be accepted at many of the UC school. Only 6% to 10% accepted is for the Engineering program.

UK system is nice but I’d prefer true ranked choice with no limits IMO, having berkeley and UCLA be extremely competitive but as a result making UCI UCSD UCSB and UCD easier is well worth it to me

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Admission by change of major into Mechanical Engineering is both limited and competitive. Petitions are required once students have been admitted through the change of major process. Please visit the ME Department websitefor more information.

Students admitted for Fall: Mechanical Engineering requires a minimum of eight (8) core courses from the following list: Chem 1A-1B; ENGR 3; Math 3A-B; Math 4A-B; Math 6A-B; PHYS 1, 2, 3, 3L; ME 10; ME 14; ME 15; ME 17 (three of the eight courses must include PHYS 3/3L, ME 14, and ME 17).

Yes, if you apply for the College of Engineering and select an alternate major in the College of L&S, they will consider you for the alternate major if not admitted into the Engineering major.

Daughter accepted for “Undeclared” and can only choose a major in the College of Letters and Sciences.

They won’t let her into Engineering as it is capped. She has 12 AP’s and 5 on Calc AB.

Same for my daughter. But the list of majors in College of Letters and Sciences doesn’t have anything she is interested in doing.
