@123vgabc I believe that’s for UC Santa Barbara. UCSC didn’t release any specific dates, just that admissions would be rolling from March 17-April 30.
Denied.
It said that I didn’t meet their selection criteria. This is so weird because I completed IGECT and prerequisites.
MAJOR: language studies
GPA: 3.5
Accepted: UCR
@starryyap I’m sorry to hear it and also surprised. I wonder what they mean by saying you don’t meet their selection criteria? This seems to be the first denial I’ve heard of. I’m glad you have an acceptance at UCR.
@CAtransplant I am wondering too. I checked their website but I am sure I completed all the requirements. Here is what they said in my portal:
Thank you for your interest in UC Santa Cruz. Your application for admission has been reviewed, and unfortunately, you do not currently meet our campus selection criteria.
If earning a UC Santa Cruz degree remains your goal, we encourage you to continue with your studies and consider applying for a future term, after ensuring that you will meet the UCSC selection criteria, including the lower-division preparation required for your major.
Thank you again. We wish you the best in pursuit of your educational goals.
I am so confusing now.
@starryyap Very sorry to hear that. Perhaps you could write an appeal explaining that you met all their prerequisites?
Here’s the link to the info page if you need it.

@starryyap you might want to call them or email them and ask an admissions person to explain what they meant. You were coming from a CCC right? If it were my daughter, I’d suggest she do that just to understand what they thought you should have done differently.
@CAtransplant Yeah, I am transferring from CCC. I am still waiting for other UCs. Their decision makes me feel so nervous and worry about other schools. Thanks for your advice, I will call them this afternoon.
@DavisPls Thanks for your information, I will try this too.
@starryyap Well you have one acceptance under your belt so that is great - you know you definitely are going to a UC in the fall which is awesome! Was the major at UR the same one? I understand the nerves - good luck and if you can, come back and let us know what they said at UCSC once you call.
@CAtransplant Actually the major wasn’t the same one. I applied UCR for Film production, but UCSC for Language Studies. I also applied a similar major (Asian Studies) to other UCs. That is the main point I am worried. ?
@starryyap I would double-check on assist.org to ensure you have certainly met all the required major prep.
Has anyone got accepted for biochemistry yet?
@starryyap I’m sorry to hear that It sounds like a lot of schools will actually tell you why if you call, so if you’re interested in knowing it’s worth a shot. And if it turns out that a mistake was made (like for me, I thought I was going to hit 90 units in Spring quarter, and I didn’t realize my counselor and I had miscalculated until Davis emailed me and asked me to add more units), it might make for a strong appeal. There are still many more decisions yet to come out, and regardless, UCR is a great school Good luck with everything!
@willowstil Thanks! I will try!
