UC Santa Cruz Transfer Decisions 2013

Ha! Me too @sanjoseman.

Congrats @SethAlexander!!!

pretty much lol

i have been checking it likea t least 5 times a day lol am getting antsy!!! what major did you all apply to? I want to double major in sociology and music

Accepted
Economics major
3.8 GPA

I got my decision around 12 midnight on 03/21/13

Congrats to @sethAlexander and umairk27 and to everyone else whos been accepted… hopefully mine acceptance is on its way *fingers crossed ;-)

I feel like I’m not checking correctly… It’s on application status right?

@Haz yeah haha simple as that.

Also, has anyone figured out how we know which major we were accepted for?

Thanks mrandall. It’s still the same status for me :/

I haven’t heard anything either and it’s starting to drive me crazy! I wish they would have just said I would hear at the end of April like the rest of the UCs. Then if I heard early I’d be all happy and surprised. Lol.

i think if it doesnt say anything you got accepted for your first choice major. but i could be wrong.

did anyone get their financial aid package? how can i check?

Transfer students apply for housing in June, right?

Hopefully I’ll be seeing you guys!

For those still waiting, earlier decision threads show bursts of decisions around the 24th and 26th. I also saw one or two rejections on the 26th. Like the notification says, acceptances last well into April. Yes, waiting sucks --I was refreshing the page like a maniac-- but don’t get discouraged just yet.

I didn’t receive an email. In fact, I still have no messages from the school. You can check your application status on UCSC.edu → MyApplication. Just keep the page open in another tab and refresh it during key hours 12AM/PM.

I also don’t know what major I was accepted for, or any financial aid info.

still waiting too… It’s torture.
I really feel like this wait is getting to me. I have been refreshing their portal every day, and it just makes me more anxious haha. I haven’t heard back from any UCs… not even Riverside. I would be so much more at ease if I heard back from at least one UC by now :/.

@SethAlexander congrats!
Any engineering majors got a decision?

still pending…

Hey all,
i’m dying here and hope someone can chance me. I applied for economics/ mathematics program. I have NO IDEA what my UC-transferrable GPAS is, seeing as I have over 100 credits from OOS. I did not do great, but this was about 5+ years ago. I have a 3.0 for all units, including a 0.0 full-time semester (I’m almost positive none of those courses are transferable though). So, I think my overall UC transferable GPA is around 3.2-3.4, depending on what transfers. I have about 30 transferrable units from CCSF with a 3.8 GPA, so there is a clear upward trend, earning an A in all economics and math courses, minus financial accounting.

Pre-reqs: I have all pre-req’s for economics (second choice major), and half for economics/ mathematics. My GPA for these courses is like a 3.86. I have the basic UC requirements, except that my English 1A course came from OOS. SFSU and CCSF accepted it, but I’m terrified UCSC won’t. I looked at the course descriptions for both campuses and they are pretty similar. Short Calc I-A, Short Calc II-in progress, Micro and macro economics- A, Managerial Accounting-A, Stats-A.

EC’s: I have worked full-time or 3/4 for the past ten years and pay for my own schooling. I was a director of one of Sidwell Friend’s Auxiliary Programs. I have limited charity work, but have some as helping organize drives for a domestic violence shelter.

Personal Statement: Clearly, I did not do so hot in my previous college attempt and had to explain this. I discussed overcoming alcoholism, working full-time, and saving enough to put myself through college. I think that one was ok. The second ps was not great, not horrible. No grammar or spelling errors. Well-written.

I’m guessing my application is a wild card, but does the fact that I went from a less-than-stellar student to being on the dean’s list, with all A’s in required courses matter? Or will they just look at my past school career and pass? Any insight? Do they look at your second choice major or just your qualifications for your first choice major? This whole waiting game is KILLING ME.

Thanks in advance and congratulations to everyone who got in!

drdoolittling. Same situation but not an OOS and accepted. Good Luck.

@drdoolittling I think you have a good chance of being accepted. You have a unique story and probably stand out from most applicants. Grades matter, but so do personal statements.

Actually UCSC does not read personal statements, it’s hard to chance you without a UC GPA but you should have a good chance if it’s 3.2+

For those of you still waiting on your Financial Aid, I think they should be out around the first week of April. I actually went in for an interview today on a scholarship and asked that question. They said that they start giving out information on that starting April 1st. Good luck to you all!

@andrewexd i’m sure they read personal statements… or else they would have to accept everyone with a 3.2 or greater
