UC Santa Cruz vs. SJSU

Hey guys!

Well I was already accepted to SJSU and with UCSC's decisions coming out soon, I wanted to know which school is better for Computer Science? In terms of classes and course availability and In terms of campus interviews and selections after graduation?

The biggest pro for SJSU is that it is very affordable for me when compared to UCSC but overlooking the cost of tuition, how are the computer science programs at each school?

Is it difficult to sign up for classes at SJSU? Will I be able to graduate in 4 years? How about campus interviews for jobs and internships? Do more employers go to SJSU or UCSC?

UCSC is sort of secluded, so I am a bit worried that the location might affect campus interviews.

SJSU has the better CS program hence more campus interviews, employers and selections after graduation (only speaking for CS) but UCSC has better course availability. The average time to graduate at SJSU is 6 years and CS is one of the many impacted majors there. You might be able to do it in 4 years depending on your luck but it’s almost guaranteed you’ll complete it in 4 years at UCSC. I recommend SJSU because of the money you’ll be saving and the better program they offer despite the time you may be losing, it’ll still be cheaper in the long run. Also, UCSC’s CS program is rather…sub-par. And San Jose is right in the middle of Silicon Valley.

I had the same question thanks! You got into the CS program? or were you undeclared?

How hard is it to get classes at sjsu for BioMed Engr.?

@cawahe I got into the CS program. And I just found out I was accepted to UCSC too.

@cantooo thank you for that! Also what if I took a lot of Ap classes (I took 8 and I passed all of them) will SJSU accept the credit?

@prolixfelix cool what school are you deciding to go to? I applied to CE for SJSU and got in as undeclared.
and I think SJSU should accept them all if they are 3’s or above…

UCSC has great CS and CE programs. Plus they’re very close to Silicon Valley which makes it less difficult to get a job.

@cawahe… to be honest I am leaning more towards SJSU… because I have doubts about UCSC… Even if you got in undeclared, you can get your major later right?? What about you where do you want to go?

@prolixfelix most likely SJSU, still waiting on CPP
