<p>For those of you attending orientations this week, be aware that one of the campus unions, AFSCME is on strike this week. Expect delays getting on/off campus. <p>This strike is not really fun if you don't have a car and your teacher decides to hold class off campus with limited campus buses and no city buses coming on to campus. Then again walking can be a good thing.</p>
<p>Other than that I wish the strikers luck. :)</p>
<p>The strike made very little sense to me. I have no problem looking into their issues and I might even agree with what they are saying. What really turned me off was the fact that they purposely walked in front of cars to make a point... but to whom? The incoming freshmen students at UCSC who just want to go to their first event as a banana slug? Their point would be made much clearer if they stood by the road with signs so passerbys could read their issues and make an opinion.</p>
<p>Yeah. I just don't think there were enough students to really make a different. We all still went to the dining hall, and some classes were still on campus and not off.</p>
