After you apply for TAG, are you notified if you are approved or not?

Depends on the school, most will some won’t. I applied to UCSD with TAG and they never told me my tag was approved. However, I was eventually accepted and my conditions of acceptance shows TAG applicant. I think almost every other UC will let you know though. UCSD just really hates TAG it seems like, they’re even ending it fall 2014.

I believe UCSD does tell you…(but they don’t guarantee your major so). USCB just says that you’re TAG looks approved or something along those lines, because your TAG is also based on your fall gpa which they don’t have yet, and so can’t officially approve your TAG (basically they just give you a “everything looks good” message). UC Davis does tell you if you’re approve or not, and if not, which requirement you didn’t meet. But you don’t find out from anywhere your TAG status until mid november.

^ No, they don’t because they go over your TAG as they do your app, per this email:

"Hello Jake,

Thank you for choosing UC San Diego when you submitted the UC Online TAG form in September. We encourage you to take the next step and apply to UC San Diego as a TAG applicant.

Submit the University of California application for admission by November 30, 2011. On the application, don’t forget to check the 2 boxes to be a TAG applicant at UC San Diego:

UC San Diego TAG

IGETC

It’s important to check both boxes!

The UC Online TAG form was a way of self-reporting your classes in a preliminary look at eligibility for the program. Some UC campuses pre-qualify TAG applicants by way of this form. Please note that as an applicant to UC San Diego, your TAG status will be reviewed at the time the application for admission is read, and not in advance.

If you do not satisfy all the requirements needed to be TAG-eligible, you still will be considered for admission as a general transfer student. Check our TAG webpage for up-to-date information about the program requirements. Official admission decisions will be posted online by the end of April 2012.

So be sure to submit your application and check the 2 boxes for TAG at UC San Diego if you wish to be considered as a TAG applicant. Remember the deadline is November 30, 2011.

thanks!!!

UC Davis does tell you if your TAG was approved. I submitted mine in Sept, heard it was approved in Nov, and just last week received my official admission offer. But many UCs do not do what Davis does.

^^^ Oops I forgot that was UCSD we were talking about.

^ I think UCD is the best UC in terms of telling you when stuff happens, and being really clear about listing requirements.
