Hi guys, I am planning to transfer to UCB from another UC. For the major req, do we need to complete our current school or the UC that we want to transfer to.
Hey!!!
I’m actually a CC transfer but here are some resources to use in the transfer process:
-
http://www.assist.org/web-assist/welcome.html
Assist . org is what we use to find the classes we need to take to transfer to a specific school with a specific major. I’m not sure if they have UC-UC transfer info on there but it can give you a pretty good idea on the type of classes you need to take to transfer. And I think most if not all UC’s take the IGETC so if you’re already at a UC then your general ed should be pretty similar. -
https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major
UC Website - Transfer by Major . This page has all the stats and average GPA’s of all transfers for all majors (actually I"m not sure if this list includes UC-UC transfers but again it should give you a pretty good idea of the grades you’ll need to get.
Also note that most majors at UC’s have required prereqs that you must complete before you transfer (again you can check assist for those or the school website should have those). I heard UCB is pretty strict with prereqs so you might want to check if you have a specific major in mind.
Most (if not all) UC’s require at least 90 transferable units so make sure you have that too and also keep in mind that it’s harder to transfer from UC to UC then it is from a community college because CC students always get priority.
(Oh also check the school website for a certain major. Like I know one of the majors I looked at at UCLA automatically declines admissions if you’ve withdrawn from a major prereq before so look out for little school specific rules like those too.)
Good luck! Hope that helps!
Thank you so much! It really helps!
