UC TO UC Transfer Question- GE's

Hey guys, I'm a 2nd year pre-business major at UC riverside. I plan to transfer to the other UC's like Irvine, etc. Maybe, USC for the fall quarter of 2009.

I have a question about GE's and letters of reciprocity. The problem is I don't want to major in business anymore...however, I'm almost done with all my prereqs for pre-business. What I want to major in now is criminology or sociology...should I stay with my major of pre-business at UCR or change it? There are no real prereqs for majors like criminology or sociology in the first place...do I really need a letter of reciprocity...can't I just finish the general GE's, but ignore the business classes? I'm really confused and I'm sorry if this post is confusing but any help would be appreciated.

you are mixing up the two. reciprocity means that you completed ucr's ges, so you don't have to complete irvine's when you get there.

now whatever major you are applying for, you need to (or should) have all the prereq classes for that major completed by the time you transfer. so whatever you decide to apply for as your major when you apply to transfer, make sure you can finish the prereq classes.

Thanks for the reply. I checked UCI's criminology, law, society program and it states that transfer students don't have to complete the pre-req courses prior to transfer. So, it really doesn't matter if I get the reciprocity letter right? I just need to finish as much GE's as I can here at UCR then just apply.
