UC to UC transfer units

I am applying for junior transfer and trying to stay under 130 units. Do units from courses taken at CC or AP credit count towards the total?

CCC does, AP does not.

Be aware, some UCs have a 120 qtr unit maximum (Davis and Merced).

i am doing UC to UC transfer if that changes anything, but thanks

That’s what I’m talking about. Each UC has its own unit maximums. Do some online research. This applies to all transfers, UC-UC included.

UCLA - 130 qtr
Davis Merced - 120
All others - 135

Not all transfers, CCC students are not affected by the maximum set if all of the classes were taken at CCCs, and the student transfers directly from a CCC. If its over the maximum, they would only credit the classes, not transfer all of the units over.

All transfers need to be cognizant of transfer unit maximums. Don’t confuse CCC formulas with the unit maximums. They are in play for all transfers.

80 CCC lower divsion units rounded to 70
Total: 70
Under unit max

75 CCC units rounded to 70
20 upper division units
Total: 90
Under some UCs, over others

UC-UC
all units counted. Lower division does not cap at 70

@Ohm888, Community colleges do not offer any upper division courses; therefore, it is not possible to have excess units if all courses were taken there.

Yes, what you’re missing and maybe it’s all semantics. I’m saying the UC transfer unit max applies to all transfers - it’s not arbitrary.

The rule is there and is applied to CCC applicants; the difference is the CCC formula (if you only take CCC courses) keeps you under the UC max. Being under it does not mean the UC max rule no longer exists. You’re under it is all.

–> And ppl at CCCs often bring upper division from
other colleges, which are added on top of the 70. (I broke it down above, both only CCC and mixed CCC/upper division.)

Anyhoo…

any particular reason why AP credits dont count?
